GP-EDIT & DXTWEAK
« on: February 28, 2007, 10:36:47 am »
has anyone got

GP-EDIT and does it work, see attached file for screeny

http://www.m3hi.com/index.php

the download for GP-EDIT is not working atm

here is what it says

GP-Edit is a windows front end for editing PLR files used in GTR/GTR2 and GTL. It will probably work on other RFactor derived games, but is not designed for them. GP-Edit makes editing all the hidden setting a breeze.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Do things like:

Maximize your frame rate
Tweak your Force Feedback
Adjust hidden sound settings
Or change one of the hundreds of other settings
 Screen shot of GP-Edit:

GP-Edit is 100% fully functional donate-ware. If you use the program and you like it, drop me a donation.
NEW:Force FeedBack Library. Swap in a new ForceFeedback setup with a single click. This functionality enables you to try anyone's settings without having to edit a hundred settings to get it right. And if you don't like them, you can swap your original FFB Style back in just as easy. I have also setup an area for users to upload their FFB Style so every one can try it.

also

has anyone used

DXTWEAK

is it any good / helpful

DX Tweak is the Logi software from the wingman team IIRC.
I believe there issues with it with XP..if its what I am thinking about.

READ_ME.TXT

Grand Player Editor Read me

GP-Edit is Copyright 2006-2007 M3 Heavy Industries.

For the latest version, go to http://www.minor3rd.com/m3h

Installation:  Stick the file anywhere.  it will make a settings file in the same dir
as the .exe file.  thats it.  nothing to the registry, no extra files.  when you are done, just
delete it.  nothing to remove.

use is pretty simple.  hit file open and load up your plr file (in GAMEDIR/Userdata/Yourname)
and go at it.  i recommend making a backup before you start.  the program does not do that yet.

this demo version is completely functional, it just has a donate box for 10 seconds
on load and exit.  everything is 100% usable.  to remove the delays, send me 10$ via paypal.
that gets you lifetime upgrades, free support and fast track beta on other game tools as they are
developed.

Feel free to pass this file around to anyone who can use it, just include this text file with the exe.

Disclaimer:
by using this program, you agree whatever happens is your fault.  you also agree
not to sue or hold responsible anyone related to this software.

that's it.  if you have any questions, email me gpe@minor3rd.com

see ya on the track!

hi, im skridge, the guy who writes gp-edit.

if you will upload your plr file to ww.m3hi.com, or email it to the address in the readme,  ill have a look and see what the issue is.  ive never had it not open a plr file before, and i'd like to solve that issue.

i just moved m3h to it's own domain, and off my studio's site, so downloads will always work now :)

that's about 2 years ago, it's now about halfway down my back.  i have nipple hair at this point :)  im going for butt hair again.  i had it that long in 84, platinum blonde, then in 96 it was almost there, but black then.  now it's brown with some grey rofl.  ok, lots of grey.

i just love being a long hair hippy   :toker:

i found the problem, thanks to SJ_dirtyvfr sending me his file.

he had /vote yes as a chat macro.  my parser looks for // to get the comments and display them.  it went into an infinite loop.

doh! :sorry:  i should have put better error handling in that section, and now i will!

i should have a new version up today in an hour or 2

i just pushed a new version of gp-edit live on my site with that issue fixed.  you can now have the /vote if you want ;)

thanks for finding that and sending me the info.  now that my site migration is complete, im going to get back to work on gp-edit.  the next thing it gets is a few sliders for setting framerate.  from ugly but fast to wow, what a pretty slide show.

that should take a lot of the mystery out of maxing out a gtr2 / gtl installation.  after that is a front end for the controls.  set up key controls, adjust the ffb settings with sliders and the like instead of raw numbers.

eventually i want to completely remove the numbers from the user experience.  everything will be lists or sliders or something like that.

download the new version (always) at www.m3hi.com

 :excellent:

had a play about with GPEDIT and the FFB settings for another profile last night, not totally sure what i was doing, but the description section helps and made a few changes to a few values, one or two of them being a friction values i think but i could be wrong, anyway i think it worked, well in the pantera anyway got a few PB's on public servers, can't remember atm what the game controller setting are at, but they are f*cking high as my arms were hanging off this morning.

thanks, for sorting it skridge  :salute:

might have a play with the FFB style library section tonight and see i can create a style based on the edited .plr that i played with last night and import that style to my real .plr file.

Hey skridge how will GP EDIT handle rFactor?(I asked over in the comments at No Grip so wherever you choose to answer is fine by me)

Re: GP-EDIT & DXTWEAK

it will load them up.  there is quite a bit of diff between the plr files for rFactor vs gtl / gtr.  the controls sections is not in the plr file on rf.

it should allow you to edit the sections that are there fine, as long as you don't change the values for the things that are not there, like controls, it works perfect.

ill work on a new ver that recognizes rFactor and loads the controls.ini also.
