Has anyone done any?
Im gonna change the knob and also will do the "No Clicking mod" as its very irritating
the sound it makes.

Its a great and informative thread that is.
I done my knob rofl and i have a spare shifter which i would like to take apart and do the resistance mod.. you kinda get used to the clicking :yep:

The clicking aint very nice for my wife either.. worse part.. she doesnt know about it yet

Great find Jarkko... had mine apart a few times to sort out the sequential aspect (the springs gradually compress over time)... Reckoning on switching to gated shifter once my seat arrives, so these mods will have to be done!

I did the clicking removal thing using the network cable, works a treat.

Yep it was allright easy. I need to still tweak it a bit, the ball bearing out a bit more from the wire i put there. Two main things to watch out, pots and wires.
I almost bent the other pot useless first cause i wasnt paying attention when assembling it back up.
But its not too hard.

Its a bit problematic.
The ball bearing got a little bit stuck and it didnt snap to gear anymore, so took it open again.
Reason for the click is the spring which has too much extra space, causing the huge clicks.
I gotta figure out some way to make less room for the spring, but im gonna sleep on it.
Im sure the network cable will work if you tweak it right, but i want some idiot proof
way to fix the issue. But as i said.. im gonna sleep on it and figure out my own way of doing it.

Just so the spring doesn't move about.. where as your mod sort of gets rid of the space the spring can travel.

But then again.. i'm not too bothered with the clickingnoise... and neither is the missus.. it's just a call for her to enter my room sneak in to put the laundry in the cubboard, make a snarly comment when she sees something that's wrong and is gone before i can throw my slippers at her..

What i mean the round hole is wider than the spring as the ball is wider also.

Hmm never really thought about eliminating the clicking. I did stretch out my spring to make it a bit more resistive. I may go full out and go no click and find a spacer.

I happened to be looking at all these G25 shifter mods at RSC just yesterday. Very interesting indeed. I'll put this link up on TWIP too, in the G25 topic. I must say that the extra resistance mod looks very interesting, it might be a little too much resistance now though.... In those clips they show, it looks like quite a bit of force is required to put it into gear. Just removing the clicking would be nice too. Would sound a lot less toyish probably.

I think i put it in TWIP also

Went out again and bought the shifter knob.. aluminum and leather.. pure excellence.

Hmm.. now gotta race a bit and then propably will open the damn shifter... again. :yep:

EDIT:Indeed, i think i need to make it stiffer feeling, both centering spring and the snap to gear.
mmmm... when i get another shifter i can mod this to hell without fear.

Heh I am that "lucky" seeing as I killed my first G25's wheel I have pedals and shifters I can "experiment" on.

Yeah i havent dont much more to it.. Made it bit stiffer feeling adding foam to the stick inside the leather "bag", the amount took few tweaks but feels actually quite nice now.
Still hoping to buy SST Lightning soon, maybe in month or two.

Just like instg8r i too have a spare shifter and pedals cos of breaking my wheel. i think i might have a play with one of the shifters and

maybe make a hand brake out of the pedals... then again i have always wanted the sst as well :think: its given such fantastic reviews.

Well I had a go at it. my anti-click mod with extra tension seemed to be alright until I put it back together. I used the network cable sheath trick but it appears I will need to do a bit more trimming around the ball bearing as its binding in the hole. I used a few small rubber O-rings I had, to use as packers to put behind the spring. I figure they will be a bit more dual purpose adding some damping and resistance.

Oh here's a simple little mod I had been doing to mine from day one. I take a small zip tie and tighten to be just the size of the shifter shaft(then one click more) and slide it on. It helps keep the leather shift boot in place.

But yeah I gave up on it last night after it locked up after I put it back together. I will have another fiddle with it today.(handy having 2 in that way too.)

I had the same thing, some have sanded a the piece of cable from other end a bit.. with extra resistance mod, and proper grease it should be possible to make it work.. but its too "bubblegum fix" to me, so ive been planning an alternative way, just havent got around to it cause i seem to always have something else that i need to do, or then i just dont have the interest at the time.

Heh yeah. I cant say I will go back at it again today....it is a PITA and its not like I havent been in there before so I have all my tricks for reassembly. But seeing as I have a shifter still bolted to my seat that works, I wont be too bothered if I dont get back to it.

I think ideally the solution to more resistance is just a tougher spring. The click is easy enough to remove(heck I just thought about that

) If I use the rubber O-rings on BOTH ends of the spring, it will eliminate the click and create resistance.... :think:
