I would recommend turning off everything but the Overall Strength. Put the rest of them to zero. By turning on the rest of those "effects" your essentially adding Logitechs idea of those effects not the games ACTUAL effects as they were intended.
Just my 2 cents worth on the subject, Games like NFS and what not benefit from things like Spring Centre etc. but IMO anytime you turn on that other stuff it IMO completely "muddies up" the actual effects.
I will have a look at these tomorrow but I wont be using anything but Overall Strength with the rotate at 900.

I just tried the "With Feeling" profile in a Hammer and I can see if this is what you like anything I use will be far to heavy. That felt like I was turning a bicycle not a big V8 powered hunk of iron.
All a matter of taste as I said ;)

I've not got a G25 (yet!) but I really like the steering to be heavy.

I think it's because I'm getting all of my physical feedback from the wheel.  The steering in a real car may be lighter, but then you have vibration through the floor as wall as the lateral and acceleration G forces to play with.

Also, it's a while since I drove a real car without power assisted steering!

Heavy steering for me, please!

 :)

I have enough force to get proper response but so that it wont effect my accuracy of control.
so not too much for me.

Just one of them fake cars in the game(pretend Mustang perhaps?) I just used it as a test vehicle as its a "default" car rather than a mod with possible extra tweaks. I will post my Gated and Seq. Setups tomorrow(I have a paddle one if anyone wants it but they are all the same minus shifting layouts)

ok, i have been thinking and there is something a bit fishy, maybe

well it's not just one fish, it's more like a big box of fish fingers

1. this is the main one.
logitech reverse effects, i don't think this works correctly but i've not checked it out or starting digging to find out, but if you turn off centre spring and everything else, the steering is very very light in the garage ie no resistance to turning the steering wheel, but the steering gets heavier the faster you drive, this is back to front, and would mean that if by clicking "reverse effects" if all it's doing is just swapping/changing a value in the FFB settings from a +ve to a -ve or visa versa, then that's not correct.

2.
if the profiler is running but you start say rFactor but don't use the profiler to start the game, the effect forces are taken from the profilers and not the windows/ game controller settings section.

1:Actually mate theres a setting in the PLRs for Pit Steering Lock. It adjusts the steering in the Pits(I have never messed with it but its in there somewhere)

2: You have been told by me explicitly and in no uncertain terms; DO NOT USE THE PROFILER!!!! it does exactly what you said it does which is why I have said not to use it.....

i will look for your quote, but i think it says something like "do not use the profiler", it didn't say close the profiler !!!! but i could be wrong, anyway everyone should be working on there own settings with others helping out.

think i have already removed the line in the .ini file that gives you low speed steering and i also tried stien's trick where you enable slowspeed steering all the time.

i have driven rear wheel drive cars with no power assist but i was a long time ago, low power euro stuff sunbeam Ti's,chevette's, magnums and i go karting.

in fact the karting is where this all kicked off

edit: SJ_Pierre61 you mixer ;p

that's not explicit enough :)

my profiler autoruns when windows starts

so what i'm saying is,

you have to "RIGHT CLICK" the minimized "profiler icon" in the tray

and then "click EXIT"

then click "OK" to "Terminating this program will cause any Logitech Controller to quit functioning properly"

otherwise even if you DON'T START a game by using the profiler by right clicking/launch game/select the game it still takes control.

changing any settings in windows/gamecontroller/settings doesn't make a blind bit of difference if the profiler is running and it will take control of your settings, now i will add that i do have game profiles setups in the profiler for GTL/GTR2/RF, so i don't know if by not having any specific profiles setup in the profiler it would behave differently as once a game profile is set up you have to activate it and then go into game specific settings.

you could end up with a situation were someone turns off settings in windows/game controller/settings and the fact is that nothing has changed as it's the logitech profiler that has the final say, even if a game specific profile HAS NOT BEEN SETUP. unless the profiler been turned off.

Okay Mate  I was clear on this INSTALL IT AND FORGET IT(the last option after install is to Untick the box "allow Program to start with Windows")Barring that go into the Profiler and turn it off NOW!
I mean your talking yourself in circles Lad. You just keep describing issues DIRECTLY relating to the Profiler which SHOULD NOT BE ON!!!
I mean go have a look over at the Logi Forums where the mods describe EXACTLY what you keep saying IF the profiler is on IT controls the FFB if it is OFF the GAME does.

Your causing your own issues for no reason at all. I mean if your "testing" stuff fine, but you are basically creating your own headache.

Final and ONLY solution which was from the GET GO
and now I have to quote myself:

Quote
My main point is do not use the Profiler(the actual program)I cannot stress this enough(install it and forget it even exists).

I will amend it by saying WHEN you install do NOT allow it to start with Windows. IF it is running disable it from starting.

make it clear m8, if you goto the profiler click on menu tab then , global profiler settings, type of profile untick in first section, "do not apply profiler to games", in the general behaviour untick first box , "start up in system startup"

it's, ok,  i'm totally sorted in GTL (for mid engine cars anyway) with 450 degrees of steering, all the force feedback settings at 100, spring on and at 79, depending on the car and track running between 2 and 4 seconds off of GTL world rank record pace online, but that's my race pace with fuel and a lot of times in the rank thing will be out of date.

so now i have a .plr file for mid engine cars, i will start to make another .plr file for front engined cars, using the renamed GPEDIT.

i was not talking myself in any circles young chap, i was just making sure that people understood that if the profiler is running it has control.

the line
"I will amend it by saying WHEN you install do NOT allow it to start with Windows. IF it is running disable it from starting."

:salute:

 :peace out:

Yes the first bit is a pseudo-alternate method to disabling the Profiles without shutting down the Profiler(I personally found that bit after my last post as well, frankly I have NEVER opened it ;) )

As for you Dirty I am glad we are all now on the same page. I woulda thought everyone knew that little tidbit all along(my whole reasoning behind making the statement not to use it in first place)

Sorry if I got flustered about it I dont think  :wall: would do it justice.....

surprise result

this is just an observation

after following Banger's and Inst8r's instructions on the USB power and turning off the profiler so it doesn't start with windows,

i have noticed that when i start my PC, the G25 sounds much better, when it does it wee test spin thing.

before it used to start turning, then it would stutter a 1/4 of a second then it would start spinning again, was always a bit concerned about the hesitation but never got round to asking anyone about it.

now the wheel just bursts into life and it spins at a constant rate, no hesitation at all and the tone of the motor/motors is uniform throughout the test spin.

excellent

Mind if I join in?

 :)

The way I always did it was to plug my wheel in then start the profiler and run the game from there.

I don't have the centring spring enabled and everything except degrees of rotation is on zero.

Am I to understand I'll get better ffb if I don't run the profiler?  I have tried this but I wasn't sure I noticed any difference.  Perhaps I should try it again?

For what it's worth, I never plug my DFP in until Windows has finished loading...  Doesn't seem to work right if I just leave it plugged in.
