Hi guys,

I have a question for you techos..

I own a G25 and I'm very happy with it... when it's working good.

Yesterday with the Legends on rFactor it was a nightmare... Every slightest touch with a wall or another car my wheel lost it's centering... I mean, it's not due to a dent in the car, it's the wheel itself that's no more centered..

The only thing I can do is unplug it and plug it back.. so it calibrate back to the center.. but if I do that between qual and race (for example yesterday) I lost the FF and that's bugging me..

I searched some other forums and also RSC but can't find the answer...
I hope it's not hardware related because it did that since the day I bought it....

Try a different USB port?

Reinstall the Logitech gaming software?
Disable the profiler (ive never used it)?

I'm gonna try disabling the profiler right..

Isn't there a "reset FFB" button that can be set in Rfactor? (might work after you unplug and replug the wheel

all i can suggest is if you unplug the usb lead during a game,go to your control settings in the game,turn the ffb settings to off then turn back to low,med or high,whatever you use and you should get the ffb back.

Its along time since i fired up rF but i seem to remember ctrl f reset my ffb it also turned on fps rates

But that doesn't answer my main problem... why the heck is it loosing it's center ??

I really dont know m8, are you sure you have the latest drivers?
My wheel is sometimes off center, but that only happens when i start the pc.. i check it every time, if its off center then i just unplug it and put it back, it calibrates it properly.. but it never loses calibration when im in the game.

i had a day the other day where my G25 was losing calibration as i was driving it would lose a quarter of a turn of the wheel within 3 laps of donington

this turned out to be a conflict of installing the drivers/software for a joy stick i fixed it by reinstalling the wheel drivers AFTER the stick install since then all has been fine

have you installed any other controller on your system since the wheel

IF you have try un-installing the wheel and doing a fresh install of it after any other controller install

if no other controller then I'm lost as to what the problem could be

Are u running XP? Maybe u got slack joints ( in german: Wackelkontakt ) from your USB-cable. Sounds like. I know Vista is reparing themself if u got problems like that ( i was having problems like that and since i got a new cable all is ok. But if u got this problem only in rfactor, just reinstall it. Maybe there is something wrong in your game.

I quick fix to get FFB back is to go into options in rFactor and go to controllers and adjust the FFB a bit back and forth. Then go back to track.

You have now FFB back.
But you cannot do that in race of course.

Any other mods you have that issue with in rFactor? The cars are very fragile, so the slightest touch might send your wheel out of center.

Try other mods and see what is up. try on different damage settings and see aswell.

it's doing the same with other games aswell... but just maybe more with rFactor

Downloaded the latest drivers yesterday but as there is no heating at the moment home, I didn't stay in front of the computer for long..

If you have a flight stick, make sure to unplug it before racing. I've had issues before with having two gaming devices in at once.

Well..

I quited Alfatina because it was doing it again..

I tried everything you guys suggested me, except changing the usb cable and checking the usb drivers... I'll give it a go tomorrow...

I'm pissed off right now.. because I'm building a cockpit for racing... but with a wheel that doesn't work.. pfffffffffffffffffff

I googled everything and tried what I could..

Now what is left to do :
- checking with Logitech (little hope)
- plugging the wheel into a friends computer and see if it happens..

What is sad is that I bought it from a friend (he used it twice).. I'm not sure I can still send it back to the vendor..

The G25 comes with 2 years warranty, so as long as it's not older you should be able to return it.
I've returned my first G25 twice; the first time because of centering issues (+ ff issues too) and I just received a new wheel immediately so...

btw guys, besides the G25, is there any alternative as good as that ??
I mean, the G25 is GREAT (if it was working the way it was meant to work)..

I know there are some heavy priced wheels, ECCI's for example but that's too expensive at the moment..

I had a problem with my G25, where it would work but the usb headset wouldnt and visa versa. The solution was to intoduce a powered hub for one of the other, the problem was too much voltage being sucked off the MB for all usb devices to work properly. The other issue I struck later was randomly it selected any number of buttons at once. Made it impossible to drive in a race. Logitech replaced the wheel but it still persisted, although to a lesser degree.
the closest I could narrow it down to was the fact that I had a number of mods in rF and something was upsetting the gp79 install.
I installed rF lite and only used one mod per instal and all seemed fine.
On my new computer however it "sometimes" skips a gear in sequential mode. Setting it back to gated selection and then back to sequential seems to fix it, which might indicate a problem in the selector, who knows....
Either way, frex is looking good.... if they ever get drivers for Vista, which seems unlikely due to the lassuit with Immersion, my latest indicators from the techs there say that drivers for windows 7 may happen first....

a MOMO steerwheel is good to fred but i not cheap ,its above the 100 euro

i use a g25 and for now still no problems here

you know--now that you mention it, my g25 skip gears sequentinaly in rfactor-but is fine in GTL/GTR2.

Is there some setting to specify the minimum delay between manual gearshifts? I know there is for some games, forgot which tho - it might help stop this problem.
