Tracks
« on: January 29, 2008, 02:14:25 am »
Here is a list of the tracks that have been proposed to date.
A1 Ring http://www.simjunkies.org/Forum/index.php?action=tpmod;dl=item779
Istanbul http://www.simjunkies.org/Forum/index.php?action=tpmod;dl=item103
Spa (default)
Zandvoort GP http://www.simjunkies.org/Forum/index.php?action=tpmod;dl=item100
Brands Hatch GP http://www.simjunkies.org/Forum/index.php?action=tpmod;dl=item85
Watkins Glen http://www.simjunkies.org/Forum/index.php?action=tpmod;dl=item580
Silverstone GP http://www.simjunkies.org/Forum/index.php?action=tpmod;dl=item102
Laguna Seca http://www.simjunkies.org/Forum/index.php?action=tpmod;dl=item95
St Jovite http://www.simjunkies.org/Forum/index.php?action=tpmod;dl=item587
Trois Rivieres http://www.simjunkies.org/Forum/index.php?action=tpmod;dl=item571
Mid Ohio http://www.simjunkies.org/Forum/index.php?action=tpmod;dl=item98
Dijon GP (default)
Goodwood http://www.simjunkies.org/Forum/index.php?action=tpmod;dl=item413
Imola (default)
Brno (default)
Lime Rock http://www.simjunkies.org/Forum/index.php?action=tpmod;dl=item97
Moirana http://www.simjunkies.org/Forum/index.php?action=tpmod;dl=item1568
Darlington Oval*
Rattlesnake Point*
Phillip Island*
Oran Park*
Mugello*
Teretonga*

I have added Phillip Island as a possible, as Warren was making the point that we do not have many tracks from down-under, and Caspar has driven this at NoGrip, and recommends it as a venue.  The tracks marked * are not, as far as I know, available in our downloads section; I think it only fair to say that they will not be considered, untlil such time as they have been tested and recommended to either Jarrko or GizMoTo, and added to the downloads section.

As no fewer than 3 people recommended Watkins Glen, it has been penciled in for this coming Friday.  As for what comes next, well how do y'all feel about the following?
Spa
Dijon GP
Imola
Brno
Mid Ohio
Zandvoort

This list is provisional, and I am entirely receptive to any suggestions for change.  I don't get too much time to run around myself, so if anyone has experienced issues with any of the suggested tracks, i would be grateful if you could voice your concerns.  Feel free to make further recommendations.  thumbs up

EDIT: Added Lime Rock

Inital testing of proposed tracks: using 25 car fields and probably the crappiest PC here,

MoiRana:  thumbs up good fps, good racing room
Phillip Island:  thumbs up, good fps, nice track
Oran Park:  thumbs up
Mid Ohio:  thumbs up
Zandvoort GP:  thumbs up

Lime Rock:  :dunno: good fps, but might be too small, good Mini track I bet

Rattlesnake Point: thumbs down gorgess track, but real hard on fps and loading
Bruno:  thumbs down nice track but low fps with large field

my scaling is based from our run at donnington, where in race 1 and in Quali were barely runable. Most of you probably will not have any trouble with any of these fine tracks, very good choices by any measure.

Kevin. :twit:

I'm with Python ... midnight? Friday night? with the Junkies?
We could be racing on an interstate at 30mph and we'd still mash it :)

For info... GizMoTo has very kindly added Mexico 88 (updated - better FPS) and Moirana (alright Caspar?) to the downloads.  They will be added to the server soon.

I know Mexico wasn't in the original list, but we reckon it will be a fine track for AlfaTina... waddya think?

Hmmm i am using MoIRana(artic circle) for my Octavia/BMW1 league, and it is a blast.
And just about the only norvegian track that has been modded.

Mugello is on the menu for P&G tonight, and i must say it would be perfect for alfatina.
Not too tricky, nice and flowing track but still a tiny challenge to really push to limit.

I am a fan of Mugello also... i'll pencil it onto the list.  I like hidden Valley (it it's the one from Gran Turismo?) but i reckon it may be too long for the AlfaTinas.  Don't know anything about Teretonga, so educate me!

St. Jovite is my favorite on the list.  That is the best track in Canada in my opinion.

We are running out of suitable tracks, and am wondering about re-running some, or asking the admin if we can add a few to the list.  I really enjoyed Teratonga (or whatever it's called!) in rFactor, and reckon it will fit with the AlfaTina ethos of "nothing too hectic!" I know it's on the list as a provisional.  Another couple of tracks i'd like you to consider are Oran Park, and Toban... both are very nice, and converted by reputable track-makers.  Anyone else got any suggestions?

Looking at the list, we still have alot of tracks(12) and they all look like a blast, wouldnt mind doing them all over again.

I just recently tried Willow Springs http://www.nogripracing.com/details.php?filenr=8983 and thought, it would be a good alfatina track as it has good flow and is wide enough for the events which usually conspire at alfatini.

I have had a few weird getoffs in 'full alfatini mode'.....hiccup, where I appeared to drop to a lower level and the track was above me, suspended in midair.  Perhaps I had had too much of the spirits at that point :)

Yep, but even on my 'high end' system fps is quite low...

Mosport is my fav Canadian track, but it may be a tad busy for Alfatina. It does have that nice long uphill run up the back for drinking purposes. The vehicles would match the course not too baddly.
