Start time
« on: July 27, 2008, 11:24:04 am »
I know the whole thingof AlfaTina is about being laid back and as relaxed as can be .. and long may it remain so. There is only one rule ... change cars afrer race one.
Can I suggest a second rule? .. that we start on time... or as near as is sensible? It's lousy to hear folk who have turned up on time leave before having a chance to race because of us letting our goodwill to others get the better of us.

I'd also like to raise the discussion point of starting an hour earlier.

I haven't run in a single alfatina so i don't know if i should really post up.... Last friday i decided i would have a bash at it, as i didn't have work on the saturday... i managed to stay awake till 1am but just couldn't manage another hour. If it started an hour earlier i'm sure i would make it now and again. Its just with the time difference its 2am here... a tad too late for me.

I wish it was run earlier cos i love reading the post race comment's and i always feel i have missed a great night

I agree about the start times, as this has happened a few times (inc. restarts) and people miss out.  As for the -1 hour business, i'm not sure how this will affect our global cousins... i think i feel a poll coming on!  :)

i am not a great GTL fan to be honest....the only time i play it is Alfatina, and it is a great laugh  :yep:

for me it's not the start time although i have no problem with it being changed  :nope: ....it's all the restarts  that hold things up, i mean if someone farts in the wrong way we have a restart and sometimes by the time we get to race 2,  i'm sitting like a nodding dog...dozing off

why do we have so many restarts in a competition that means absolutely nothing...no points no prizes....just fun, is how i understand it.

i am easy with whatever is decided....but that is my main problem, all the restarts

I posted my concise, incisive and eminently sensible thoughts on the issue in the vote thread.  I'm not typing it all again!

One hour earlier would make it bit easier for me, as were 2 hours ahead of gmt time here.

Changing the start time an hour or so either way doesnt affect me as much as it would the guys who will be burning the candles in the wee hours of the morning. If a time change will help in getting more people in on time then I'm cool with it.

I do agree that we should get the races started on time as well.  For those of us who cant make race 1, there is always race 2. And for those who need to sleep, they can somewhat expect that race 1 will go off as scheduled and finish at a reasonable time.

I just make race 1 by the time i get home (well-the announced time) I ate my dinner between restarts. I doubt i could make it 1 hour earlier. The problem of "just jump in the 2nd race" is WHEN is the 2nd race? ontime? 1.5 hours late cuz someone was in the 'loo at the start of restart 1-3-5?
Start race 1 ontime-2 restart limit.

The one hour earlier start time works fine for me, and hopefully, the rest of the east coast NA guys.  The earlier time translates to 7PM Eastern Daylight Time.   thumbs up

I think 3-4 last races ive wanted to join, even did few laps with boys before one of the races.. but eventually i just need  to give up, since its so late. Hopefully the way the result seems to be makes it possible to join more often.
