The track ir 4 is now going for just a hundred bucks.  If you wanted one, now is the time to get it I guess. :)

I could only find the Track IR Beta 5 software.  Going to try it with my now outdated Track IR 4.

The 5.0 software looks and acts much more like I would expect.  Very nice for fine tuning.  Already worked out my smoothing issues in Black Shark.

Just reading this thread, are you able to use beta ir5 software with an ir4 ?

I always found the ir4 difficult to use whilst driving. I have it all still hooked up, but dont use it with my 3 screens, and proably should....

Any tips or settings from those that do ?
thanks
Mike

I am running the ir5 software with my ir4. It works well enough, but I think I still like the ir4 software better though.

What game are you having trouble with mixfloors? The standard profile for rFactor is perfect, but for gtr2, gtl, gtr-e are very twitchy with that same profile and need a custom profile with alot of settings turned down to drive comfortably.

I am one who likes the ir5 software better.  It runs fine with my ir4.  I was able to smooth things out much easier with the new stuff.

Best way to see is to give a shot I suppose.  Let us know how it turns out.

I'm finding the v5 software much better with my TIR4 hardware ... just seems to handle light better. I'm finding I can use it near a window in daylight without too many problems.

Now THERE's the answer i was looking for...but i think i've got the TIR-3 pro... the helmetthingy.. and when i have my playtime in the evenings, the sun goes down, lights up the back of the room reddish.. (because of the drapes, which came from 2 moves back) which confused the trackir heavily.. lol

lets see if it "wants"  to update....it might say "buy the new one as you have a piece of sh"

Does it come with a device to toss (neck) pain medicine in your mouth every once and a while?
If it does then i might consider getting one.
 lol

You could try your  Golfswing m8....

just yesterday a 16 year old died as he cought the swing of a 62 Yo's club ... with his neck...

Track-ir aint half bad m8..
You just need time to get used to it... i got mine in 2005.. hahahaha   and still dont use it much for racing, only when i'm drifting with you m8ey.. so i can see where you are "hanging" out..

I havn't used it in ages, so I flicked it on yesterday arvo, in rF it seems to be ok, but a bit twitchy, although I think its more the fact that the tracker unit is placed on top of my game pad and not the screen, which means that its about level with my wheel. I am thinking that this means the distance between it and the headphone clip is about half what it should be, and its registering movement as twice the distance (or exponentially more), and no I dont have a beach ball for a head Frank......LOL

I think I need to move it up on top of the screens and try it again. Although I have to say I use about 55 degrees FOV with 3 22' screens so situational awareness is pretty good when it comes to racing, I have a G25 paddel set to rear view for a quick flash backwards if necessary and the in-game seat moved forward to put the outer mirrors on the outer screens and get them as large as possible.

Havnt tried it in GTL yet and since building the new computer havnt loaded GTR2 and EVO, so I might get them on and see what happens. Will get back to you about those settings when I re-rout and load the other stuff.
Thanks for the offer of assistance Andy, I feel I will need it....LOL

I turned up the smoothing on the Tir 5 software and it took the twitch right out.  That was something I could never kill with the old hat.

As for neck pain, I just hit F9 and it disables it until I'm ready to hold still again.

I did the same as Marcus and pumped up the smoothness (I feel a hit 80's remix coming on), I also have a fairly large deadzone (it's my age) and disabled the roll. All good now.

Well well... After testing few games and fiddling with settings.. I think its absolutely necessary to get the best out of flying sims (with ROF its sweeet!).. my biggest surprise was really how natural it feels.. very smooth and accurate also. It was rather good for racing.. took a moment to get used to.. but soon it will feel almost as natural as when flying.. just need bit less sensitivity compared to flying and all is well.
After couple hours of playing about.. it would be very very hard to let it go anymore.. Just feels.. natural... so hard to explain.. i knew quite well what its gonna be when i ordered..
but still im hugely suprised that how it feels.. simply great! better than i expected definitely.
