Hi guys. I apologise profusely for my absence.
I joined a while ago, to play Race07 online, but unfortunately, after a few attempts, I just accepted that I couldn't get a decent connection to your server. On top of that, I went a bit "wrong in the head", and started running, mountain biking and other silly outdoor stuff, and my computer-based racing was pushed to the sidelines.
Again, sorry for joining, and then dissappearing shortly afterwards, I hope you can forgive me. 

Anyway, on to my problem.
I've never, EVER been able to get richard burns rally to save my controller settings, ever since I bought the game in 2004.
This weekend, as the WRC season kicks off again, the game was installed again, so me and my mates could join in the rallying spirit. And yet again, every time I start the game, I have to map my controls on the options screen.
I've tried setting user priviledges on the install folder to give "everyone" full access, but to no avail. In all honesty, I don't think this is a Vista issue, as I had the exact same problem on XP for several years.

Sooooo. I thought maybe I could borrow some of SJ's magnificently large brains, and ask if anyone else has this problem, and if so, have you cured it, and how?
I'm running the full DVD version of the game installed into the default location, on Vista 32-bit, with patch 1.02 installed.

Any ideas?

I dont know what could be wrong with your game.. are you sure the file itself is not ticked as "read only"?

Or maybe go in the game, do your config.. then save in the menus.. alt-tab out.. and make the config file "read only" so the game cant change em back to default

One question though, which file exactly are the configs saved in?

ehr... config.ini?
(pure guess, cant remember.. but the file is in RBR root folder, and if you open it on notepad you will see what is the correct file.)

Hmm, I'll just make sure that nothing it "read only".

It worked!
I just right clicked on the install folder, and cleared the "read only" box, and applied to all subfolders and files, and it works properly!

I can't believe I never thought of that in nearly 5 years!

Just been fiddling with the RSRBR addon. Hmm, my french isn't as strong as it used to be - I'm a bit lost!
But that's another topic!

RSRBR09 is great! What you need to do is launch it with rscenter2009.exe and it should be pretty clear, it will give you an interface which is in english. You can choose loads of stuff from there, and it will start the game directly. What you need to do is first is to make the "mulligatawny" profile, and adjust all your settings.. after that close the game and just use rscenter2009 to launch the game from there on.
You can even play online!
