Interesting issue - could be hardware or software related...
« on: December 12, 2008, 02:57:39 am »
Lenovo X-61 Tablet has Vista Business with Office 2007 Enterprise installed running IE Ver.7.

Problem: Once internet explorer is opened it seems the only way to close the application is to either click the Red X or Click File\Close. Right Clicking on the Task Bar Button then Clicking Close doesn't do anything... Pressing Alt + F4 will close the window. The other menu items don't do anything either, only thing that happens is 'WindowsDing.wav' is played. Something interesting is that if I minimize the browser then right click and select Close the browser will close without error, but has to be in a minimized state.

I have ruled out policies causing this because I moved that Tablet to an Testing OU so its either hardware or software related, really thinking software. Graphic drivers are up to date. I have googled where it was suggested a Tablet Utility pack could be causing the issue so I have started the grueling process of uninstalling a lenovo tool, restart, log on and test and repeat for the other 15 products remaining. I haven't got through them all yet so the answer may come. I have tried running Internet Explorer (Without Add-ons) and the same issue is present.

Has anyone come across this before? If so, did you resolve it and how?

Any information is welcome on this, I am stumped at the moment. I originally thought the dde's were maybe corrupted but I haven't thought of a way to test that scenario yet.
