 Yeah, I also tried 3 different controllers and one I ordered just for it. (XBox controller for PC) Did some Googling and found out it's normal and there's no way to fix it. There was a supposed download to fix it, but it didn't work either.

I fired up my computer about an hour ago.  I tried to install the graphics drivers again, but it still said there was no hardware there.  I had even taken out the card, and reseated it.  I resided myself to just browsing the web, and started tooling around the site. 

Out of nowhere I get a message from Vista saying it needs to reboot.  It was a dialog box I hadn't seen before, but I let it reboot.  When it came back to life there was a little nvidia icon shining at me from the bottom right of the task bar.  I then tried to install the graphics drivers again, and it worked this time.

I just tried running COD and it worked ok.  It seems things are working for now.  I am still going to call EVGA here in a moment and try to get something replaced though.  I don't want to have that happen again.

One thing I hadn't realized last night is that the power went out twice here yesterday while my PC was on.  I really need to invest in an APU. 

For now, I'm happy it's working.  I'm never going to shut it off again though!

Power outage and shutting it off... aren't the same.... you know that, right?


Keep shutting it off (clearing the cache and such), and every once in a while, when you update the graph drivers, install them to a different directory, i take the date on which i install the drivers and put that after the name like:    c:\Nvidia270609
As i had it once so far that updating graphicsdrivers didn't work, even got my card checked out by the shop.. when i reinstalled them to a diff directory:  hey presto, they worked..

I'm pretty sure he frantically looks at the ventrilo list to see "who's on"  and then sort of shits himself with the thought of everybody beeing nice to him (because he's a very nice guy!) and somehow the prospect of just horsing around doesn't seem to appeal to him anymore..


talking about beeing sick of something.. and you know this shordy!   Getting me to not put my attention to GTL, then pulling out when the 50 minute race is already in it's 22nd minute... well done shordy..  you've so completely advertised where i should put the next rocket in GTA!  :grr:

Ok.. nough ranting..  hey Marcus, you haven't outgrown us junkies now have you?  there's a lot of guys waiting to meet up with you, you can make mistakes m8, yer the boss! hehe  use that to your advantage and especially as an excuse!

Uhoh, this thread has turned into another "when is Marcus gona drive" thing. As long as he shows up on the forums we can not complain, it is not like he was racing for years in every race, then suddenly stopped.

Ok so here's the latest.  The last few times I have booted up my PC it starts in a 1024x768 resolution.  I then have to change it manually back to the proper setting.  Twice it's reverted to the dismal image posted in the start of this thread. 

Mr. Mallender Sr. has kindly offered me a replacement card.  In fact he has already shipped it, and it should be here Tuesday. 

My plan is to make every effort through EVGA that I can in order to get the card replaced under warranty.  I'll be using the backup from Kevin to verify that it is indeed the card causing the issues.  Additionally I'll use it during any time it takes to get the original replaced... assuming they warranty it.

Thank you so much Kevin.  I will let you know when it arrives.  I'll be calling EVGA on Monday to try and work this out.  I hope it works!

Good luck! EVGA are very good with their waranty service so long as you registered the project when you bought it, i broke a header on my mobo and they fixed it for free.
