You may want to look at
this. Might help. If nothing else, it's helpful in taking them apart/diagnosing stuff.
Mine was spiking in strange ways.
It worked for me though it took some trial and error.
(Plus my gas and brake are reversed from inverting them but I had the problem before that too.)
Maybe even try unplugging and replugging the usb a couple times. Makes no sense but it's worked for me also.
