Under Setup > Hardware input mixer.  It's on the right hand side right in the middle.  There is a drop down for "Mux".  It's probably set to your old sound card in the dropdown "Mixer" above the mux.  I don't use any additional settings there.  Try setting Mixer to "none" and see what happens.

I can get on vent and help you out if you need to test it.

Yep, thanks Marcus, that's the one I was looking for, Pete's. 

It is very helpful even though it didn't directly cover Mux.

For some reason when I first tested Vent today, the Mux option didn't show up, the drop downs were blank. I went into windows sound properties and changed a few settings and now the Mux option has appeared in Vent. I don't know what exactly fixed it, but who cares, it seems ok now.
If it isn't working, I'll no doubt get some feedback in my next SJ event, or maybe we can have a quick chat tomorrow sometime Marcus.

He just had the dedicated sound card removed to try and resolve some crashing issues I believe. 

Also I run with on board audio.  It works perfectly, and I notice no performance hit.  Granted this machine is bad ass, and courtesy of a few generous Simjunkies.  In my old box it was a different story, the addition of a sound card really helped that old clunker.
