This carmaking stuff is fun!!
« on: February 08, 2009, 11:22:37 am »
...and addictive!

So, I discovered how easy it is to make cars for rfactor. My oh my. Think this is where I'll be concentrating.

I've started converting my other cars over but since they're in the P&G and GTL sections and you've all seen them, no need to repeat them here.
I merely post the old Minis as perspective......as my usual more, erm, understated style...gives way to......a change of pace...(?) lol

My first rfactor car as in JUST rfactor is now done. One nice thing about getting up at 5am is the kids are asleep and I could do this without Miss Em guessing what I was up to. namely, I know she's been jonesing to drive at Goodwood again, Soooo, I went to bed last night thinking she needs her OWN car. I mean she's 9 now so.....So just now, I made her one......
yes, she loves dinosaurs! She LOVES green! so, with no further blah blah blah...

Nicely done Den. :)

Be aware that whilst some rF mods are good for skinning, others have terrible templates and some don't work with Vehicle Viewer.  It's the same old story rFactor story: From the very very good to the truly awful and everything inbetween!

Yeah, I noticed that. Luckily these I can just use my gtl templates. ...........but I noticed some have templates and some just don't.

Plus the mess downloading is on rFactorcentral does NOT help!

So......the saying a picture is worth a thousand words?

This is merely a "work in process" but it also represents a change in MY direction.

The car is up and running as is as a standalone. Wanted to see how the stripes line up.

This WILL in a lot of ways look SIMILIAR to my GTL car but is actually from scratch. Mainly as I had messed up the saved templates before....

You will also see it says in the menu "Anarkist Garage Canada", the Canada part being part of where I'm heading. (Yeah, I need to be "heading" somewhere  when I create..lol always have....) I've accepted my fate as being stuck here but I also STILL want to move to the U.K. so I will later do this car (and others with the option) in RHD as "Anarkist Garage GB"...see? plus eventually I been more and more thinking of moving my "cockpit" around so it's RHD.....
So. ANYWAYS!! Originally I was just going to convert my current GTL cars over, (and I have done so with the GT40s, Falcons and Minis) but now have decided to do new rfactor versions. They WILL be very close to the GTL cars in the initial batch but still will be different. Hopefully also reflecting what I've learned this past week since starting this stuff....

I also like the idea of being able to drive the car while I'm still working on it...Teeheehee. Just like in the real world eh? Hope you like it when it's done!

So, a complete 180 in direction for me....

Hmm, so I just tried the FIA GT mod. I love it!! seems to be GTR2 into rfactor or at least done of the cars so since I had downloaded some GTR2 templates the other day...hmmm...I wonder..??....

So, you can see where this one's going! Oh crap!! I'm getting wips!!!! hahahaaaa...

Well, I like to start and then well, I want to DRIVE!!!!!!!!!

I still have to figure out how to get that banner to show OUTSIDE the car and I think I'm going to move the red stripe to the same distance the OTHER side of the white one before continuing.

That's it for now. I will post again when they're finished.

So, typical me..I had an idea and it nagged me and I HAD to start it to see what it looked like....

As mentioned in the GTL thread the read and white stripes are to represent the Canadian flag. I know I COULD just put flags on but to my way of thinking that's TOO obvious! I like to bring things in in a subtle way. And though I'm proud of my country I am also an Anarchist so not THAT patriotic. So, patriotic but not insane brainwashed patriotic like most people. (IE: I don't stand for the national anthem.)

So, anyways, I was thinking how to apply this to my "Anarkist Garage GB" cars....Hmm....

Again, a flag is too obvious. Simple, but obvious. And to me lacks creativity. (My wife is quite happy to see me do this stuff as I have hidden my creative side for well over a decade and she's happy to see it come back out.)

So. I thought of trying to incorporate the colours of the Union Jack but then though red, white and blue. NO WAY!! It would be interpreted as the U.S. Uh, no thanks. No offense, just wrong direction sooo......

I'm not much of a white car fan but.....was thinking the English flag....

 So, input guys.

I still think it's subtle and gives a "hint" as I like it to do.

So. Did I pull it off? Shall I continue it?

Ithought of that. Also thought of bringing it a wee bit more forward. (Centred?) But wondered of that would make it less subtle and too obvious??? maybe I'll give it a try anyways and see how it looks. Thanks Cas.

How so? Seriously. The flags I see are just the white with red cross. Show me and I will try to incorporate it. Seriously.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/England

http://www.woodlands-junior.kent.sch.uk/customs/questions/symbols.html

Just some info.

No idea whether the lions are on the official flag.
'Official' flag sites don't show them though.

But how cool would it be to have the lions on one of the front white parts?
Very cool I say..

Thats a very cool looking start Buds, look forward to the "finished" version.

And I don't care how nuts I sound...Cars go faster when you paint it!

After watching a few replays, I decided the "3 lions" gave the car character.

Left them the same size and now the car is finished.....
