My next track teaser ...

DawgRiver

Just a little 5k scenic river run ...

I am open to naming suggestions for this track ... something better than Dawg River ... too egotistical for me ... and I love my ego ...

Looks like a cool fast track you got there DDawg.

All I got for names at the moment are Race River Lane or Race River Road.

The terrain here looks VERY similar to the drive through Cedar Canyon in Southern Utah.

http://maps.google.com/maps?q=utah+maps&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-a&ie=UTF8&split=0&gl=us&ei=ojkUSqOeApnutQPosNzpDQ&ll=37.517079,-112.701359&spn=0.050038,0.098705&z=14

Cedar Canyon would be my submission. :)

Oooow, very nice name!
'Some Cedar Canyon' if Dawg doesn't feel like making more trees.
Or just put in the readme that it's after the big flood.

:D I'm just home from work and need to calm down now....  :getmecoat:

Ok ... I decided to combine ideas together and came up with the following ...

Blue River Canyon

can't change it now either as I already submitted it as a wip ....

I will upload a beta for those who would like to provide me some feedback ...

only those that are commited to provide feedback will get the link ... Critical data would require stuff like what settings you ran, the mod you used and the FPS you averaged ... and your system/graphics card ...

Not that I plan to delete more objects off the track, but to know how much more I can get away with to add! and if I dare go shadow crazy ...

Blue River Canyon Beta

only has 16 pit stalls, 58 Garage spots and 58 car grid ... however, I dont recommend more than 20 at most ...

Things I may change later:

1)The start lights ... may add a few more further back.
2)AIW tweaks to the path ... or adjust AI more depending on reports or mood or both ...
3)some Shadowing to the trees near road if FPS isn't gravely affected ... its already a tad heavy in the FPS department ...
4) more pit stuff
5) maybe some spectators on the side of road during race ...
6) may add a animal or two depending on FPS hit ...

Or I just may release it as is if a majority of you think its fine "as is" ...

Here is the official FRAPS Benchmark for a 5 lap race from the cockpit view of a Howston (why the Howston, because it is stock rfactor mod and only way to rate a true baseline FPS performance test)

Frames, Time (ms), Min, Max, Avg
107287,    852902,  59, 169, 125.791

(a little over 14 minutes runtime)

The low FPS rate is at start in the 20th grid starting position against 19 AI and full variation of car field ... meaning all classes. And the race start time was High Noon ...

rFactor Game display settings: everything FULL/Max and texture filter x16 Anisotropic, only Shadow Blur is turned off.

Resolution is 1920x1200x32

AMD XP3100+ 2.2 Ghz
Radeon X850XT card
1GB RAM

TCL mod
single test, low graphics: 82-118 fps
single test, full graphics: 82-113 fps!!!! That's amazing on my computer!
15 AI, low graphics, start race back of the grid: 35-75 fps, very very drivable!
15 AI, full graphics, start race back of the grid: 20-64 fps, not real fun but hey, no freezes in frames.

Did some driving in SCC and F155 Mercedes, about the same results.

SCC racing at night......awesome! Good fps when graphics set to medium, which is pretty special for me too.

So, kudos for the graphic quality AND ability to show it on a computer as modest as mine.

The track is great, just great.
Either in touring cars and classic F1 and modern sportscars it's absolutely great.
The camber and elevation change is so realistic and gives great feel.
Track surface is very inspiring to the force feedback, and coming from me that means something since in rFactor I'm seldom happy with the feedback.
The cascading water.....haha, very good!
And thank someone that those trees are drive-through.

The track has many corners that at first would seem the same but after a few laps I already start to feel good and recognise various sections.
Two straights to breath but with a very exciting turn in the middle, twisty bits, hairpins but not to tight etc etc..
Clearly, this track is made by someone who likes driving, a lot!

Hats off DDawg

Caspar,

PS
If the info makes no sense and you need other data, just tell me.

Cool. I got some of my name suggestion in there..
Well, thats my beta contribution  :P  :rotfl:

I will wait for the final, as I cannot commit to anything at the moment besides running the league.

No Need ... but ya should at least give it a spin ... Litterally ... at least one ... if you don't spin once, I will be totally impressed ...

AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+
128 KB Primary
512 KB Secondary

Memory:  2048 MB

Microsoft® Windows Vista™ Business (Build 6.0.6001 )
Name: Microsoft® Windows Vista™ Business
Service Pack 1

Radeon X1950PRO 256MB
1680 x 1050 x 60 hertz

Did some TCL (87 Stang).

This track is great, a lot of fun to drive on. I got a real great view of the first waterfall on my first lap  lol Noticed that once you have come to a stop in Blue River you ain't getting out of there very easy or at all.

I ran rFactor with everything on HIGH accept for shadows, they were off.

Went out with first with vertical sync enabled. Everything is looking great and pleasant on the eyes. My PC had no issues running there. Turned off vertical sync and same thing. Without vertical sync I saw frames between 100 and 165.

I will do more in the near future, shadows on and that sort of thing.

I have to agree with Cas,  :hats off: DDawg. Another great track  :P

yes ... water is not easy to get out of unless you have a bit of ground clearance ... its not suppose to be easy ...I don't do easy very well ... LOL

as of now there is only one shadow caster on the track ...that is the 1st bridge ...

that turn into the 1st bridge is a bit of a @#%$ ... I started out having it banked all the way thru ... but then I didn't like it cuz the track was too easy ... I think tracks need to make the driver be fearful ... forcing the driver to lift off the pedal into the turns every once in a while ... and the fast driver just don't need to lift as much ... However ... even the fast drivers can't do it every lap in a long race and the smart driver will be laughing when the other goes ODC (over d cliff) ... I love thinking tracks but yet carry a lot of speed ...

So far ... my favorite mod on this track hands down has been the Caterham r500 ...

the track and car go together quite well IMHO ... and I normally don't drive it ... steering wheel is on the wrong side ... LOL

Believe it or not ... this track was going to be a dirt track ... but I am falling back in love with asphalt again ...

PS ... Thank you for the comments ... and the stats ... Its good to know the FPS isn't too bad ... that give me room to wiegh it down some more! ....
