Marcus asked if I could get some video from my SJ 'race car'. This past friday spent some time at the track fooling around on allseason tires. Nothing to get excited about, but it's good practice for grocery getting!

was it a drift day or a regular track day? in the UK they would chuck you off a track day for having that much fun

nice driving, I was expecting a trip onto the grass much sooner

It was a regular open track day, usually they are a little more strict about drifting. But a few reasons I got away with it, main one being that the only other car on track at the time was that yellow spec racer, I know the corner workers (it was the end of the day and only 2 workers left) and discussed my intentions with them beforehand and was not giving off huge plumes of smoke since I don't have enough power to do that. It is just my daily driver after all.

I used Byron's wonderful number plate graphic and had it printed at a vinyl shop, I chose to use magnetic sheet since that makes it easy to put on multiple vehicles. Tough to beat for $60, I think just the vinyl is around $40. I got a 24x24" with the plate and number printed next to it then cut it out myself, but anywhere can do it easily. Anyone who wants it I can email the .psd template.

Cas - It is true though, I have so much more virtual seat time than real seat time and it really does make a difference in my driving. The ability to criticize myself, accept criticism from others and use it to improve as a driver all come from the values I learned in this great community.

That whine is the differential thanks to poly mounts on it.

Another one following a similar car for a few laps once it finishes converting. About 6 laps this time, make sure you have a beer

Yeah, I hear ye mate.
In real life driving, if I am aware that I can NOT reset anything and stay alive, I definitely can use sim racing experience to negotiate tough situations with no panic nor fear.
I would never critisize your driving though, hehe.

Come to think of it, it is SO cool that people you can teach something in some sim or mod beat yo' ass at other mods or cars.
I think that is one of the things that make SJ so cool.
One can never rest, and one can celebrate oneself unexpectedly too.

One piece of advice-got a bigger steering wheel-and a seat. Your holding yourself up when your drifting on the wheel-and its moving too quick to keep up with.

Yes I know I need a seat, these are just for daily driving and I'm planning to purchase nice buckets, used to have corbeaus, but want something better. The wheel seems fine, much better than the stock one, but I will keep your comment in mind and see about trying some other sizes, IIRC this one is 350mm.

Very cool, we will have an SJ army of cars before long!

I tough you had a built tranny and dfrential with straight cut gears. First time I heard someone has that noise cause of Poly mounts. I have them all in my FC and it doesn't make any sound like that.....

The steering wheel is perfect. No need to buy another one. Just need to be a little quicker moving your hands

Well Done Chris, the Yeehaw was a bit faint though... as are those on comms as of late..

.. very well done and what a lovely track.

the grass might have been greener on the other side... a bit more steinways and you would have found that out the hard way.
It beeing you daily driver, wow... takes balls m8ey..

as i wouldn't try it with the colt..

Well, I consider it my daily driver, but my daily commute consists of walking about 50'.

Also notice I didn't fool around near any hard obstacles! the worst consequence for me going off track was grass. Still it's not a great idea to take a car you NEED to the track, because at any time it could be written off, just like your regular driving you could crash and die at anytime right?
