Bloody Hell!

That looks a lot like the roads round the Verdun Gorge.  I was there a few weeks ago.

What you don't see in the vid is the drop, should you misjudge a corner!

looks like a beautiful place, what region is this ?

Sorry to correct you lads, but that's not the 205, that's the 405 T 16, which won the WRC in 86 or 87, if I'm not mistaken. The 205 had won the previous year championship, also driven by Ari Vatanen. Both cars won the Paris Dakar, think the 205 won more than once. These cars were really amazing, i recall going to watch the Peninha stage in Sintra, and on the  few straight parts of the stage one could barely see the cars pass by  :)
There was also another amazing driver, Michele Mouton who also won the world championship back in 83, if not mistaken, on an Audi 4 GT, remember her ?  :)

Anyone need a ride ? :D
This trailer's really good if you like bikes and speed, first 5 minutes are a bit flashy, but the ride is very good http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-8211419460191897771&q=ghost+rider

500 hp Suzuki ayabusa, what a rocket  ;Dhttp://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-6946569604612882573&q=ghost+rider

Found Ghost rider's 500hp Ayabusa Trailer, and upsala run on google video. If anyone's interested in the full movies with better quality than these google videos, I can put them on share on Streamload, they are quite large, bout 1 gg each. Btw, if you don't have it, you might want to check it out cause it might interest you, it's an online storage facility, with 25 gb free space in the free plan, it's even got video and sound editor, aswell as email account and other goodies, and you can share whatever you want with friends, really cool. you can check it out here http://www.streamload.com/About/Home.asp

here is a different one, but also spectacular  ;D http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-6082164220224172061&q=japan+drift

Ah, now that takes me back to my childhood... Fondly do I remember our trips to southwest Virginia, the birthplace of my parents, to visit our grandparents. Every summer vacation, and every Christmas break we would make our sacred pilgrimage down the West Virginia Turnpike, which  in those days was mostly "UNDER CONSTRUCTION".
It seems like yesterday when my father would loose all patience with the orange cones and "BRAVELY GO WHERE NO MAN HAD GONE BEFORE" and scare the living shit outta us blazing his own trail through the "WILD WONDERFUL WEST VIRGINIA" mountains, mostly on the dirt and gravel that the road crews were diligently trying to pave at the time. But it didn't end there, OH NO! Inevitably we would have to make the trip from the farm "into town" and for that, the 3 of us kids would pile into the back of  an old rusty Chevy pickup truck, and the 4 adults would cram into the front, with Grandma at the wheel. And if you've never ridden in the back of an old rusty pickup truck, down a one lane, mountainous, washboard, gravel road, with a 60 year old woman-who's-spent-her-wholelife-in-the-mountains, well, let me tell you, there's no thrill ride in any amusement park in the whole world that even comes close. Especially when there's a log truck coming the other way, and she doesn't even slow down, just hangs that ol' Chevy right over the edge of the cliff, while you're bouncing around in the bed of that truck, desperately seeking for SOMETHING to hang on to... and Mother yelling out the side window, "You kids quit fooling around back there and SIT DOWN!"
That's what this video reminds me of...

Fears!

Though I'd bump this thread 9 months on as Snow Patrol seem to have revitalised such a cool film with such a cool song:

he he he, not sure if anyone has clarified it properly for Mario yet, but it was a motion stabilised camera (one of the real early ones) mounted on the front of the director's Mercedes (he wasn't going to use his newly purchased GTB).
Then he travelled the route, and while he didn't travel flat out he still hit a fair speed for city driving and as witnessed ran many red lights, etc.

The sound of the film gives a great illusion of speed but is simply a dub. That said, Dub it may be but it's still a beautiful sound.
I recently grabbed the DVD re-release where they cleaned up the original 35mm film and it really shows the dubbing up. Older, grainy & dark version make it harder to see the flaws.

Fake or not, it will certainly be one of those legends that will be around in years to come.

Now I just need to find the non-faked clip of a Ferrari (Testerossa?) ripping through Paris at insane speeds.  :yep:
