Not new news but now its officially announced..
Sebastien Bourdais will be replaced with Jaime Alguersuari most likely, allthough oddly they didnt announce that yet.. only that Bourdais services arent needed anymore.

No suprise really, but at least it's official now. It shows that being a multiple Champcar champion doesn't guarantee a succesful F1 driver.

There's no doubt the guy is quick. A little whiny sometimes but fast. At this point I don't see him coming back to the states to run the joke of a series that is Indycar. Probably a full time sports car driver from here on.

Heidfeld uses lenses.

Anyway, there is no doubt that he is reasonable fast, but there are a lot of drivers in Europe that are reasonable fast. To stay in F1 you need to be more than reasonable fast.

While this comment gets my hackles up, it is true. Just look at how well Nigel, Jacques and Alex did after coming from F1 to ChampCar/IndyCar.

I like to where contact lenses when I do athletic/out of doors stuff, like skiing of mountain biking. And then I wear sunglasses. Because I don't have "shaded" lenses on my presciption lens glasses.

/I'm cheap and just get free samples of the "daily" lens from the optomitrist and re-use them after cleaning.

- Nigel Mansell was probably looking for an easy job after becoming F1 WC

- Jacques Villeneuve was lucky to have such a superb car to become F1 WC, he's really one of the weakest WC's of F1 imo. I think he's the only one who came FROM Champcar/Indycar to become F1 champion.
- Do you mean Alex Zanardi? He was really only an average F1 driver, I wonder whether he did a full season once as most of the times he replaced other drivers if I remember correctly. Anyway, he's really a good example that an average F1 driver can become (muliple) Indycar/Champcar champion. He's really comparable with Bourdais!

in all fairness to Bourdais he did win all those championships without much competition in champcar. but i think the real issue here is that a champcar is relatively sloppy and clumsy compared to a formula 1 car. I also think that a lot of Bourdais failure has more to do with have Vettle as is team mate more than anything he did. Villeneuve looked so good his first year because he was in a good car with a relatively weak teammate, Damon Hill was never considered a speed demon. But Bourdais was unlucky in that Vettle has been an up and coming superstar with redbull for years. I'm sure Vettle was by far the favored driver within the team. I can't say that Buemi has out performed Bourdais this year. but Buemi is much younger thus being a better bet for the future.

As for the Zanardi comparison, in his year with William's i don't think he really got a chance to show what he could do. That car was a disaster. He also had the most bizarre failures while in good positions including his under tray falling off at Monza. but i digress.

Aye. We are witnessing the importance of equipment this year. Button as compared to last year when the car was a joke. Last years world champion now a joke, but maybe with a better car now? Also witness Red Bull has now caught and passed Brawn with several others getting very close. I think a lot of it comes down to not driving ability, but the ability to communicate with the team and the skill of the team interpreting the driver's input to make positive changes. Maybe Seb isn't as good of a technician or communicator. At F1 level, the minutiae matters.

Schumacher was a good driver, but I believe more importantly he was a superb communicator, technician, and tactician. That's why he won so much.

Hmm.. Danica Patrick refused to join US F1.. says that series aint in her heart.. who knows.. maybe she saw what happened to Bourdais and thought it would be a bad move to join F1 in a new team. (propably is)

Danica Patrick knows herself that the major reason USGPE perhaps (nothing official) wants her services is because of publicity. After everyone is getting used to "a woman in F1" she will be judged the same way and probably she knows that F1 is a bit too hard for her. Of course she cannot say 'I think I'm not good enough for F1' and so she tells the press she wants to stay in America, close to her family and friends

I think your exactly right, in truth she is in good enough to be a front runner in Indycar as it is. The US GP team has a zero chance of success where in indycar she has an outside chance of winning a race or she can sellout and run in Nascar for a year and make big money. The truth is she is already in series far beyond her ability and now is the time to cash out before people realize she will never be a champion.

. Think he would be better served looking for a Sports Car drive, to prove he doesn't need to go back to Indycar to be succesful.

Thing is - there have been a lot of really good drivers who just don't cut it in F1: Maybe it is the technology or the way the sport runs but think of JJ Lehto for example: bloody quick driver, had that amazing race at Le Mans when he was faster than any other GT through the night in torrential rain, gets involved in that awful startline crash at Imola in 1994, aggravates his broken neck injury and that's the end of his F1 career.

Ironic thing was, he was probably the closest competition Schumacher ever had in an F1 car (my opinion obviously

).
