LMFAO! dats about right too Monty.   They are going to build the Holden in Chaina? - Why? - cause it's much much cheaper to make there (Labour costs - slave labour - is that what Australia is going to know for - slave labour - shame) & do you think they are going to sell the Holden in Aus cheaper? cause it's now MUCH CHEAPER to make? - the backbone of the Holden Icon - the devoted Holden lover? - NO!, they are going to sell it for the SAME price! - SCABS!!! FREAKING SCABS!! - that is what Holden is doing to you poor Holden lovers - So, bite ya lips & live with it you losers!!!   :L:

 lol     :salute:

Cheers
Jeff  (at least Ford won't lower their standards)   :salute:

lol Hec, your Ford parochialism is funny. As mentioned in the shoutbox, alot of the Falcon is made in NZ, seats, brakes, and many other parts. The company that makes most of the parts is Malaysian owned, the rest made in Japan.. so much for your Aussie Falcon  :peace out:

I know this as fact through my father in law that owned the company that made the seat recliner mechanisms and the brake parts. They also do the backing pads for all the US Fords that are used by the US police as well as work for some German car manufacturers. Dad in law sold the company to their biggest client who builds most of (about 95%) the Falcon. That company is Malaysian owned. The Dunedin based company still operates in NZ. they looked into relocating the workshop to Australia, but they couldnt get the skilled workers and the NZ staff wouldnt relocate to Melbourne. They have some Swiss fineblanking presses (although older types) in Melbourne that do the same job, but nobody in Aus capable to produce the same quality. The steel is shipped from Newcastle? to NZ, made into parts with NZ made dies and shipped back to Aussie for final assembly.

I hope this helps give you a bit more insight as to where your true blue Aussie Falcon comes from. :) The above has been going on for years. Holden is not exempt either, alot of Holden parts are made in the same factory in Dunedin.

hehehe wasnt trying to spoil your fun, Hec, but I had fun spoiling it anyways :)

Im sure many didnt know that Ford and Holden parts are made in NZ and that only now has Holden gone to Asian build, something Ford has done for at least the past 20 years. We all knew that Holden got a decent engine when they started using the US GM powerplants a few years ago.. heck Holden even dabbled in Jap powerplants at one point.

If Satain reads this, since he lives in the area, the factory I refer to is D.C. Ross Ltd in Kaikorai Valley Rd.

Im not really the one with the knowledge, my partner tells me this stuff to write, he is the wealth of knowledge, and his info is usually from his dad..and to talk with this man is just amazing...a 10 min phone call never ends before the 1hr mark, if he gets on the subject of cars/motorsport and their History

Yes the Vectra on this side of the world is a Holden Vectra, same as the UK/Euro car which is Opel I believe.
Isnt the Commodore sold in the UK under a different guise, Opel something?

Well all I can say is.. at least FORD are still put together here no matter who makes all the parts.  Holden couldn't stand the heat from the BA, so they pulled up their knickers & bolted for cheaper pastures - yes, good on you 'Aussie Icon', tossed 1,000's of Aussie jobs in favour of cheaper labour, parts & god knows what else.  I see they have to rename the Holden, now that its being built in China.  Heres a few that have leaked outta the factory...

HOLDOG  (they eat dogs - skinned hanging from meat hooks)
HOLDLING
HOLCHOW
CHINDON
CHINNIDORE
COMMODUNG
COMMSUI
CRUMBLEDORE

Can't tell ya the rest they're R-Rated

Cheers
Won Hung Lo   lol

At the end of the day Holden or Holdchow will still beat Ford.
