custom skins looks like it uses a different place for them (in documents/my games etc.)

gonna have to move them out of steamapps to new location.

which was a stupid idea as each windows login will need a copy of the CustomSkins folder, in my case, I have 3 drivers and three Vista log-ons and the CustomSkins folder is 3Gb in size, so now I have to use almost 10GB for the skins alone, then there are the 3000 setup files that now need to be loaded in 3 different "My Documents" ... The list goes on... Silly

Guess you don't have to do this.. as I discovered yesterday you can now set a path to a folder in the Evo settings itself.
Not sure though if it was just for the UserDate or custom skins etc. as well.. might give it a try.

this updates is the worst thing they done so far

not only has it changed some folder paths but who else is finding the "files" very very slow to work :?: i noted tonight when i click on "files" to go load my setup  it's taking 58 seconds to actually go to the sodding files {yup i actually timed it during qualy today :hmm: :dunno:} this when you consider you only have 1.5 to 2mins to load your race setup is a bloody pain especially if you accidentally load the wrong setup and have to back to files to get the right one your gona miss the start  :dunno:

on top of that it seems to have stopped the server recording replays as the folder they go to has disappeared  :?: found them thanks to Warren

Ian, something else you might want to check. I noticed that when the Patch moved all my setups to My Documents, it kindly left behind all the old setups in the original location (Steam Folder). As a result, I had duplicate files showing up, so I finally woke up and removed my Setup folders from the original Steam location. The loading times also improved greatly.
There are also some other files / folders moved to My Documents which are duplicated under Steam, I'm carefully checking and removing those two.

The most frustrating thing about these Simbin Patches is the "hugely helpful", yea sure, documentation to explain what they have done.   :hmm: :grr:

shall check that out Warren  ;).....

.i find it very very annoying this forced file path change  i like having ALL my stuff where i want it NOT where somebody else wants it  :grr:.......

......i run my game NOT in the default install location  hell i don't even run my box from the C drive  :innocent: i have 2 very large hard drives  1 i have my operating system and Graphics/office type apps and stuff  the other is solely for games  and i keep everything to do with my games on this drive {1 reason being IF i have a crash and have to reinstall ALL my games are there ready and waiting when i finish the reinstall INCLUDING all my setups and replays i want to keep NOW i have to manually save them duplicated  to the games drive so i don't lose any in a crash  :sulk: most annoying having to do manual work  :rotfl: :rotfl:
