Huh???? Terrain patched?????

Ivan,

In your GTR2 folder you'll find a patcher for the terrain.. it will help you to get out of the sand pits quick ;)

Growing desperate here... didn't find it.... what's it called exactly?

Stein, after installation you can also find it in your windows "start" menu. Power&Glory entry.

i had already done a virgin GTR2 install for this, and i have no other tracks installed except the ones included in the game, and the vlm mid ohio track, but at brno the other night whenever i tried joining with the scuderia ferrari  i kept getting a CTD,so i would say something is not quite right.

Dave, please check our multiplayer FAQ.(http://gtlw-blog.flyingpig.info/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=131:multiplayer-stability-faq&catid=44:general)

If one client had a bad installation or a terrain patch while others not, then it might cause CTD to OTHER clients. So you might had CTDs without being your fault.

I have had 2(maybe3) CTDs, it is a clean install and i do run the 'terrain patch' but the only common denominator is that all the CTDs have happened when someone has joined or left and everyone had the CTD at the same time   :dunno:
:ted:
PS: this was posted in the wrong thread previously  :hick:

no worries, I saw your post on the other thread too :) I think this is exactly the case. The server was letting in people with different terrain configurations. When someone with a different configuration entered the server, others where CTDing...

boy do I hate GTR2 sometimes (although not fair considering the amount of fun it has given me)

in light of the first post of this thread, its better to move the tracks to the games locations folder not alter .ini files.
ive used historic X mod bill have you used P&G 2  :?: thought not  :finger: :schtum:

The .ini changes nothing for me, still the same constant CTD's. I did give p&g2 it's fair try, but I haven't been able to make more than half a lap without a CTD. :bye:

if this is the case guys, may a suggest a different vga driver? It might be incompatible with gtr2 itself?

Well, just finished a long session on the server, and did suffer a few CTD's.  Sometimes these seemed to be caused by another's disconnection, some were mass bootings, and some were just random.  I generally have very few problems with GTR2, and tonight's experience is not what I would consider typical.  That said, it did not detract from my enjoyment of P&G!  Yehaaaaw!

You got it right Ray.

I think the bulk of problems are caused by using anything but a virgin install of GTR2.  During beta testing I used a fresh install every time.  The only CTD's I had were a result of alt/tabs.

We all know how refreshing a virgin install can be.  If anyone hasn't tried it this way, I'd suggest you put your fingers in it, and see how well it fits you afterward.

i have a total virgin install Marcus, and yes,it is very refreshing, no excess play as yet, but you can't beat the feel of an experienced install, where it's tight where it matters but a bit of extra give where needed.

on a serious note.

the P&G2 install is on a total clean GTR2 patched 1.1 install with no additions, only the mid ohio track.

as for the VGA driver recommendation. i run an ati 4870 512mb with the ccc 8:12.

i may not use P&G2 if i have to keep swapping drivers just to play it.

:grrr:  Well, I guess I won't be joining you fast catz anytime soon.   :grrr:

Got the 3 part download, ran it  to make 1 file, it verified the files, started up, and when it got to gtl dvd, got error it could not find it and canceled install.  All this while autorun has the GTL menu in front of my eyes on the screen.  Tried w/ autorun off as well.  Jiggled cables, chked the bios...aaaaaggghh!!

Yes, I have a virgin gtr2 install, a REAL copy of GTL, but no more patience.  I will go back to working on the Sim Junkies Polka....I'm out.   thumbs down

HeatCAN...Was there a BROWSE option on the screen that was looking for your GTL disk?

Also, did you have Disk 1 of your GTL in the drive?

If you have more than one optical drives, try putting GTL into the other optical drive and see if it's found there.

I hope you get it worked out.  :)
