VERY VERY IMPORTANT about P&G2
« on: December 28, 2008, 11:27:51 pm »
can all members please make sure you have installed P&G2 using a clean just installed GTR2 and updated with 1.1 Patch no add-ons whatsoever  then install P&G using this virgin clean install

we need to eliminate every possibility of contamination causing CTD's so if everybody makes sure of this clean install we know that isn't the problem

even if you had no problems  on the server at all you could still be causing  the problem

ALSO make sure you have the terrain patched

Is anyone else tired of the new 'standard' in the modding community of requiring a fresh stand-alone installation just to run their mod? :bored:

Where's GTR2 lite?  lol

The main reason is that it is ont just another mod, but a new "game" so to speak.

And we all know GTR2 has CTD issues, so thats the main reason.

That's what they all say! rofl Not faulting the P&G team at all, they do fantastic work. It's just a little frustrating to have half a dozen installs of a game to run mods. Hopefully everyone remembers the trick to point the locations folder to one install so you don't have to copy the tracks all over too.

It would be nice to have a 'lite' version of GTR2, that is the bare essentials to install on top of. I suppose it's possible to make one myself by getting rid of all cars/tracks from the default install, maybe I'll go ahead and do that. :)

Huh???? Terrain patched?????

Did a clean install and patched with the 1.1. and then installed the P&G ontop of that. Are there any more patch to install? Where do i find it?

How do i do that?

While historicX mod is very very good, it cannot even come close to the feel and sweetness of P&G, but to each its own.

They are both very good.

this thread is nothing to do with another mod for another game it is purely to try and cut out any CTD's caused by the possibility of some other mod  in GTR2 please don't go off topic

if we are all on the same page with a clean install it cuts out the possibility of another mod causing the CTD's if they still happen we can look elsewhere

Ivan,

In your GTR2 folder you'll find a patcher for the terrain.. it will help you to get out of the sand pits quick ;)

To point your new installs to the tracks from your old one, open your     \GTR2\Config.ini

TRACKSDIR=LOCATIONS\

Change to          TRACKSDIR=  C:\Program Files\GTR2\GameData\Locations\      (wherever your other install is located, copy and paste from the folder explorer bar)

You should now have all your tracks and only have to manage one locations folder. :)

in light of the first post of this thread, its better to move the tracks to the games locations folder not alter .ini files.
ive used historic X mod bill have you used P&G 2  :?: thought not  :finger: :schtum:

To the best of my knowledge:
If you select the default option from the installer it copies the necessary files from your chosen location leaving the old install in tact .. so you cam leave your V1 on (not sure why you would want to though :) )

Again, with the default option, your .plr file is copied over and you are good to go straight away

New setups will have to be created due to the changes in the versions.
