I had no clue that this mod was in the works. How the hell could I have missed this.

I don't know, but it's been in the works since September '06. This latest release shows why it's been so long in development - Accuracy and quality. I think I posted a link to the original thread at no-grip waaaay back. I've been keeping an eye on it ever since. The first taster of this mod was the Iroc 911's and they rocked. What? Me saying a jumped up Volkswagen rocks? - well yeah, they do.

The guys that put it together deserver some serious accolades. These are the guys I want building the next race sim.

I wholeheartedly agree.

Me too.

I mentioned whilst we were testing it, the quality and obvoius care that's gone into it makes you feel it should be a commercial product, and not a free download.

I also mentioned that we should reserve our judgement till Tim's made his official statement!

Tim's official statement:

R.I.P. GTL (we need an undertaker smiley, top hat and all)

Long live GTL 2  :yep:  :toast:

Driving the TR4 and Lotus Elite round Donnington National almost made me want to go out and buy a flat cap, pipe and tweed sports jacket. Can't wait 'till they do the Healy. That's how good it is.

This mod is ESSENTIAL. It's as simple as that.

That's it. Can I go back to driving it now please?

Would like to say I'm impressed by this mod.....The manual needs a proper going over to get out all the errors.....Even obvious to me o:

But to drive it does seem to have that certain something.....Love the TR4 :gtg:

It was Tim who actually told me to check out the 911 and Cortina in the little tryout mod loooong time ago. The Porsche wasn't an immediate converter for me.
He educated me however about real cars and even made a comparison between his life experience in a Lotus Cortina and this virtual one and GTL's version.

Well,.... running the Abarth VERY close to the Tina's and Alfa's last night without going off but WITH drifting, braking MUCH harder than in GTL with almost default settings and an immediate good feel of FFB (patch won't work but np) and knowing it had a ABR (approved by Rivet) stamp on the dashboard I felt VERY good with this mod, indeed a sim in it's own right!
I belieeeeeve!

I don't say it will replace GTL just like that or maybe I am to much in true love with the sim that brought me to SJ?

Bugs and stuff in P&G for me sofar;

- Online Donington didn't work on several servers, I was booted  for 'possible cheating' right after entering. No such thing happened at Ochsersleben and Brno.

- GTR2 CTD several times. After restarting it worked again.

- FFB patch doesn't work, error message;
'errore 52 generato da PGPatcher, bad file name or number'.
Why it's in Italian and English I don't know.
(The terrain patch works.)

- at Brno we drove in the rain but with wet tires I felt nothing at all that indicated that I was driving on a wet surface and I had loads of grip, VERY strange!
I drove Monza in the rain in (911RSR GTR2 default car and BOY did I feel the slippy surface then! The other peeps at Brno in the same and other cars DID feel the wet track though, very odd.

- Gaz surprised us by setting the race to nighttime! But you can only see the rain when driving under the big lights at the pit area, that's a shame.

Caspar.

Some quickly slap Tim

Mrs.Tim just obliged with the slap, so I have to say the interior & dashboard etc of the MkII Jags isn't as pretty as the GTL offerings. I can't think of much else to complain about other than I want a TR6.

Hmmm, there must be something though  :?:...........................................

The FFB patch did work for me even when i got the same error as some, i believe the error is caused by the name of the plr.ini, most likely the use of _ is the cause.

I don't use _ in my plr file name but it's no biggy I think.

Cas, i dont know if this is relevant to your Wet issues, :oooh: but in the manual they state that ALL wet tyres are THE SAME and only have different names, The reason, they say is because of this.

*[spoiler alert] Important in game rain tyres information
We are sorry to ruin the authentic atmosphere that we trying to create with our mod.
Inside GTR2 garage screen you will notice INTERMEDIATE, SOFT WET, HARD WET tyres.
ALL RAIN TYRES ARE IDENTICAL...*but we had to duplicate them with the original 3 distinct names in order to workaround a GTR2 hard-coded limitation.
So whatever wet tyre you choose, the results are IDENTICAL

As i say i don't know if its relevant to your issue, but certainly some thing to be aware of for us all :ted:

Exactly :). I always maintained that this era of cars were actually fitted with brakes.

and knowing it had a ABR (approved by Rivet) stamp on the dashboard

Great idea. Ok, come on now - I want an "Approved by Rivet" stamp.

As to the bugs, I suspect most of that might be due to the actual GTR2 game and not the mod. I'm not saying the mod is without fault as it's still a w.i.p. with lots more tweaks and goodies to come, but GTR2 can be a bit "flaky" in some areas.

You're right about the FFB patch though. I tried it with and without the _ and got the same error.

Ammendment: I just got the FFB patch to work. It's not the underscore in the .plr file name, but the underscore in the profile name that it doesn't like. I just removed the underscore in my profile name and it worked fine for me with no error message. If you don't use an underscore and still get the error then I  :dunno::sorry:

rotfl rotfl Excellent!!! Well done that man!!

I've investigated the FFB error message a bit further and found that the underscore issue is irrelevant. It will work with or without it.

The real deal is that you need to make a new profile in game and then apply the patch. You'll have to re-do all your controller settings etc of course. If you can be bothered to find out what lines the patch has added/altered or both, then you might be able to simply copy and paste them into your existing .plr  :dunno: just a thought.

I was going to do a "Rejected by Rivet" section too, but for some reason the stamp was completely worn out...  can't think why!

GTL is what the cars are today, P&G what they were back then.. Great attention to detail, physics are better.. Needless to say.. now we can drive these in rain.. for me its much more believable than GTL, i really really enjoy it. Shame i havent had a real change today to try it more but its plain excellent.
a MUST download to anyone even a little heart for GTL.
