RetroLan @ Oamaru
« on: September 30, 2007, 12:31:39 am »
This Labour Weekend is the 5th Anniversary of the beginning of LanLand. To mark this auspicious date I will throw my home open for two days of quality time lanning, RetroLan style. Old school games any machine can run, Q3, SOF, etc. Mark your colander with the dates 20th & 21st October, Saturday and Sunday of Labour weekend.

This is open to any simjunkie who would like to join us. Pm me for registration. A must for any OSJers from Christchurch down.

It's gonna be a blast.  :yep:

is this Lan like one of the things you read about on the internet, when like 500 people turn up at someones house for a party, just hope they all bring their own network cables ;)

well it won't be 500 people, but it will still be a blast. The sad thing is most of us have been racing sims for so long now that serious FPS is going to mess with our heads :)

Mmm lan , Havent been to a lan in years :(
Whisht I could come & meet you blokes ,but with me being away with work so much this year, It would be a bit unfair for me to bugger off for the weekend - the family.Wifey isnt too keen on a 5 hour drive either. Particularly when Our Oldest lad has a form of Autism & gets a bit .. fidgity..

I've promised to take my boys fishing over labour weekend too.

If this is an annual event though. I may have to  start the wheels rolling for next year :)

Have fun guys & we expect lotsa pics & tales Afterword :)

Retro LanLand 2007 was fine example of network problems, wild gun play, dropping jaws, cheering and catcalls, laughing out loud and windows reinstalls.

My most memorable moment was when we were running the Call of Duty 4 demo* (many times) and the sound of jaws dropping was deafening. When my most WOW addicted friend saw this demo for the first time, he said 'I'm upgrading tomorrow". Seriously. It's so delicious.

Funniest game was Flat Out 2. The cheering was especially loud when the chilli smacked over 6 school buses.

The Retro idea was great. We played Soldier Of Fortune 2 most, and everyone could run it, Quake III too. Capture the flag with the excessive mod. Rocking, Shaking, Quaking, Grinning.

Thanks to all for coming and enjoying. See you at next years Labour Weekend Retro Lan.
