GTL-OSJ Points
« on: October 21, 2008, 10:00:58 am »
Just wondering if there's going to be a new season, and what you guys want to do about the points board, now tht everything's moving over to GPCOS.  I haven't added the GTL-OSJ link to the new points menu on the forum yet, cos I'm not sure what's happening with the league.

Let us know what you want to do - if you want to run your own points without GPCOS, we can still add a link in the menu, obviously.

 :)

Let us know what you want to do

I think that`s the problem...we have noone who will create a new season...

I remember Jack and Dion who were up to it, but they are both a bit quiet at the moment...

well i will do my usual and offer to sort the season out  but you would have to use the SJ server

i haven't stepped up so far as you guys have been using another server which i can't access so makes it hard to sort things out but like i say if you are willing to use the SJ server {don't know what sort of connection you guys get when using it } I'll gladly do the organising  thumbs up

ya just need to ask  thumbs up

if you guys come up with a season of tracks {please give us time to vet any new tracks that are not in our downloads} let me know a start date i'll do the rest
make sure your races are announced
make sure the server is setup
and even sort out your points {if you let me know what points system you want}

if you guys want full control somebody will have to have server access for setting the server, and do the anouncements and sort the points
I'll leave it to you guys which way you want it done   thumbs up

Would love to get up and running again, but I just tried the rFactor Historic mod. Maybe that could be another option if everyone has rFactor (atleast the lobby wont have us by the balls). Raced the mini's at mid-Ohio, what a blast. If you feel the need, until we get something running here, KDSR is running a Historic season for the next 6-8 weeks. You are more than welcome to come for a run over there. I'll find a link to the thread and post it up, if you do join in you'll also have to sign into the Race Event System to be in for the race.

I'll look at organising something for GTL once my rFactor league is finshed if you want, I dont want to be running 4 leagues at the same time, the wife would kill me  :nutkick:

P&G is OK but afraid Historics is a no go on the SJ server

They run on a Sunday night at about 7:30, first race is a 7 lap sprint, second race is a 14 lapper. We only have small numbers there and are trying different combinations for a full season. I'll see if I can find the thread and post the link here, next week is mini's

I have the P&G running Ok on my computer. I like it, seems to me to drive OK. I have not looked at rFactor at all and am loathed to buy yet another sim when I only really race GTL.  What else do we need for P&G to be able to log on and race?  Are there skins etc - link also?

An unlikely combo of Abarths vs MkII Jags at Monza jumps to mind as an absolute classic :yep:

One of the highlights of my SJ life.  :yep: :hats off:

Well lets get a list of cars together, first. Then we'll worry about tracks. We have to have a Alfatina round  (thats a give away). Abarth Vs Jags etc. So how about 3 match ups from each class TC-65, GTC-65 and GTC-76, that gives us 9 rounds. Plus we can run 1 enduro race. I'll see what feed back we get here and if there is enough interest I'll start working on it until Jack and Dion return from the mothership.

Yes thanks Monti.  thumbs up We're having our kitchen done, also had quests for a long weekend so I've only now had chance to see this.  :innocent:

In a couple of weeks all the kitchen work - tiling, decorating and new flooring should be complete; then I'll have to time to practice (I need it) and race.  :twit:

Guys lets get the ball rolling on this and organise a fun run for next Sunday 7th December.  Somewhere simple like Dijon short or Donnington (or both).  Just to get the feeling back for GTL.

Quite like the idea of using the GPCOS system to manage the points / results and even gives us an opportunity to run a team event.  I believe the SJ server will be fine - unless Riven wants to step up with Inspire server (but how does this work with GPCOS????) and we should take Giz up on his offer to help with organising - assuming the offer still stands :)

Lets look at starting a league in the new year after the Christmas break- Im happy to put my hand up to organise the league - I have quite a few ideas running about in my head at the moment.....

Happy with either track - prefer Donington National, its a shorter track.  What are the times for this proposed event as in the UK we're on GMT now and I don't know if your clocks have gone forward.  Presumeably we go with last season's skins and cars.

Only problem with GPCOS is establishing teams and formally being accepted into a team - takes time.  In GBGTL we used GPCOS for one year only, we found it an additional pain we could do without.

yes I'm thinking about maybe just doing the points and teams manually and skipping the GPCOS - I think some of the things I am thinking of will be more of a hassle if we are using an automated result generator.

Im happy to do it though  thumbs up so long as the majority agree that is......

Looking forward to GTL again - last season I could only make a couple of races and with my new rig it is nice to have it running on full instead of Low detail 800 x 600 DX7 @ 25fps.......

Bill  - the races will be at 20.00NZDT which will make it 0700GMT - an early start for you and our European freinds but unfortunately we cant really push it out any later on a Sunday night here in NZ.

Once Giz replies to my PM I will put a proper race announcement thread up - but there will be nothing serious this week - just testing of the ideas I have - prob 3 races 15mins each.......

I will also be firing out some PM's to former GTL racers to try to get the interest up.

Season will start in the new year - probably 11th January and I would like to run it weekly but will need to see what the GTR2 boys are up to as that is run "every other" Sunday.

At this stage the plan is for 9 rounds.

More info later..... unless mutiny sets in  ;)

Thanks for that,  thumbs up fortunately I'm an early bird so hopefully it's just a case of rearranging my Sunday morning schedule every other Sunday.  :fingers crossed:

Earlier this year I had ISP problems  :lag: which meant the only time I could get a decent ping number was on a Sunday morning when the rest of the UK was still in bed.  chocks away Raced both GTL and GTR 2 for a few weeks until I changed ISP.  Then I only raced GTL.  I think I only had a couple of weeks of 0700 GMT then we went to BST with a 0800 start followed short aftwards by 0900 BST start - hence my question.

Hope to see y'all Sunday.
