NASJ GTR2 Season 2
« on: December 06, 2007, 07:52:56 pm »
Well, we are closing up this season and it is time to start thinking about next season. I would like to extend the season to 10 races if we stay with running it every week. Also, I would like to stay with the same day of the week. We will also be running the GT/G2 class for this season.

Any other ideas or suggestions are welcome!  :)

Rules

Qualifying: 15 minutes
Race length: 40 minutes
2x tire
2x fuel
Must use same car for every round and also only 3 drivers per car

Cars available: GT/G2 classes:
BMW M3 GTR
Corvette C5R
Crysler Viper GTS-R
Ferrari 550 Maranello
Ferrari 575 GTC
Lamborghini Murcielago R-GT
Lister Storm
Maserati MC12
Morgan Aero 8
Mosler MT900R
Porsche Bi-Turbo
Porsche 911 GT2
Saleen S7R
Seat Toledo GT

Track schedule is now final. :) Also, your worst race will be dropped in points.

Weight Penalties

1st:45kg 2nd:30kg 3rd:15kg 4th:0kg
5th:-15kg 6th:-30kg 7th:-45kg
Max:100kg
Min: default car weight
These rules will be used if the GTR2 Manager is working properly.
Update: So, as far as we know, we will not have weight penalties due to the Manager beta becoming expired. Now it looks like the manager will work because of a version 1.0 :)

Alright, thanks Ian! I think we will only chose tracks that are in the downloads and other default tracks.

I really like the format where we have to pit, change tyres, and it's a sprint length.  I think this is great for weeknights.  :salute:

It's like a qualy for the whole race!  :hats off:

Yes, I like the mandatory pit stop also and the sprint type of a race. We may do something to make the races different, however. Nothing to big.  thumbs up

I enjoy the format right now, The pit stops realy make you feel like you are in a complete race. I would not mind different tracks, but I prefer the defaults, but that is personal preference. I would like to run gt cars, if we had more people we could run both a gt and gt2 championship at the same time in the same races, like in real life, but I do not think we have enough players. I would like to run a season of gt cars, but I belive I am in the minority on that for NASJ GTR2

Why do you say that? I think for sure we will run the GT/G2 class instead of the NGT/G3 class. The only reason is so that we are running different cars. As for the tracks, we will venture into using non-default tracks, but still have some default tracks. :)

      :hand up:

Sounds good.  Same night, same time,..different class,..new tracks thrown in the mix.

Have a feeling if the earlier series race stays on same night as this one, we'll have a packed house regularly ;)

 :) lol

I think for next season we will still have the mandatory pit stop rule, but it may not be for every race. We will see. :)

I like the idea of switching to GT/G2 cars.  And I like all the current rules, format, time, and day except for one thing.  I don't like 2X tire wear.  I'd like to see it switched to 1X.

That could work. :) If we were to do a 1x tire race, then would we still have the mandatory pit stop? I would say no. But we still have a lot of time to figure it out before the start of season 2.

BTW, I really would like to finish this season on the 20th so that we finish before Christmas. Is that too close to Christmas, or is it fine?

Ducman and I have been talking and it looks like we will be running 12 races and most of them will not be default. There are quite a few tracks that are not on the SJ server yet, but we will let Giz know what we will be using and we will make sure the track is suitable. Also, we should start the season on Thursday, January 10, 2008.  thumbs up

Maybe bump the fuel usage to 3X or 4X as we're still able to run all of the tracks on one tank with plenty to spare with the 2X and 30min format.  It'd keep a one stop race, but tires would be optional at that piont.

No worries Ducman. :) It looks like we will run this series on a bi-weekly format in conjunction with a possible 3rd rFactor series. So, I think we should try not to make the season too long. I think 10 races is the maximum. I am fine with doing another 8 race season, it seems to fit just nicely. But just my opinion, what do you guys think?

I think having a bi-weekly season with about 8 races is good. I would personaly like to see a slightly longer race if they are held bi-weekly, something like 45 min, but no more than an hour. I realy like the pit stops that we have to do, and would like to see it some how still needed, whether manditory 4 tire stop, or make it so you just need to stop cause of the nature of the race. Also, maybe we should make a drop your worst results rule, for times of bad luck, or when someone just can not make a race. Just a few sugestions, looking forward to next season!

I agree, I'd like to see the races be a bit longer.  40 or 45 min.  One drop race makes sense too.

One more idea that I forgot in my original post, we could start implementing weight penalties, much like how the game dose it if you play thru a season offline, or how they do it in the real FIA GT championship. I have no personal experience having that in multiplayer games, but I have heard that you have to perform a couple hacks to make it work. It would level out the playing field greatly though, and make it so that cars with very different performance qualities can race competivly, and keep the series from being dominated by only a couple people.

Yeah, I think we will make the race longer, 40 or 45 minutes. :) About the pit stops, I don't think we will have a mandatory pit stop rule, we will just set the tire wear and fuel usage high so that we will have to pit for fuel and maybe tires. :) About the weight penalties, I am not sure yet. I think it it a good idea. We will use is everyone wants to use it.  thumbs up
