Did NA GTR2 Die?
« on: August 26, 2007, 07:05:58 am »
Perhaps we could alternate weeks with GTL and GTR2 if you guys like.  Just a thought, I've got both games so I'm not worried either way.

sorry Marcus i got very little feedback again and with one thing and another i got sidetracked while waiting for some suggestions as to time and day ...................you Americans are very hard people to please when it comes to motor racing sometimes  rotfl rotfl

if there is enough interest in ANY of the NA leagues in ANY Game as i've said before i'll gladly run them to a point  i'll set the server............. make the announcements............... do the points ............and sort out the replays

BUT i need the NA group to come up with a time and day THEY want to run the races

maybe you can get them organized on them 2 points Marcus cos they just come back to me  ;)

The only way this will work is if another NA guys steps up to the plate. Giz can't be expected to organize and promote 20 different series. The thing i noticed about this series was everyone had their own opinion on how to organize it, but when it came to crunchtime, no one stepped up to the plate to accually do it.

also, we need more NA drivers. i notice in most races i see the same names popping up over an over again. this could cause burnout and crash everything.

I hear what your saying Dave and wish I had the time to step up and do it but I know I don't. You do a great job and I know you got a lot going on and I just want to say a BIG Thank You for everything you do. We're getting so many games and mod's to use now it will become more difficult to please everyone all the time but you sure do your best to try and make it happen. I hope someone can step up and help out real soon. If my world gets a bit more organized maybe I can help at some point down the road.

Thanks greazy.  :)

I do want to say i do think there is room for a GTR2 series. I have no problem writing the schedule, setting up the server, etc... but i don't have time to participate in it, or directly run the races as an admin, someone else will have to do that.

Don't know a whole lot about the admin functions, but that just means there's a learning opportunity.

Yeah same as GTL, makes it way hard for the admin to do things.. always have to do it straight from the server.. rFactor is the king in that department, theres not much you couldnt do straight from the game.

NAGTR2 was running over at SSR, but for one reason or another, the series fell by the wayside.  There is a very well organised outfit running GTR2 on US time, with a few names that you will all recognise.  I have a blast there on Sunday nights (well... actually Monday morning at about 01:30)... worth a look... very friendly bunch and well organised league.

Check them at http://wcgtr2.com/ (<----- check the side bar)

;) thanks for pointing all that out Dave even though i was always willing to try and run it like you say everybody has a different opinion and nobody would stand up and be counted  this is why i let it slide waiting for somebody to come up with a solution :salute:

I run all the games, from rFactor, to NR2003, GTR and GTR2, and NAGTL..............the list goes on......But it seems, in my opinion, GTR2 has lost all of its 'shine'. In other words, the popularity has diminished considerably.....and it seems that most of us, and I'm not speaking for anyone but myself, have found more satisfaction in our older games.... Eye candy is nice, but realism and playability, are the most important aspects to any successful sim. I was an admin of SSR NAGTR2, and the falling of it from the server was due to lack of interest, and the DAMN tempermental Game Code, that made it near impossible to have everyone present, and racing on various servers.......... i.e. "booted as possible cheat"..................

Nuff, said. It a good game and more fun with higher numbers, and it could be, someday, we may all come back to it............til then..........

"booted as possible cheat"..Yea, I got that last time I was online in GTR2.  I thought it was a mod car causing it at first, but no matter WHAT car I chose after that (DEFAULTS) I got the same crap.

Perhaps the CRASHERS in GTL prompt SinBin to code some "security" against "cheaters"   lol

Somethings up for sure, been that way since Day1 on first install, with no mods............... Oh well, that is why rfactor and GTR1 will live for ever!!!!!!!!!!

i really enjoy GTR2... have had the "booted as..." issue, but since installing an unadulterated version (alongside my modded install), i have experienced no further problems :dunno:

horses for courses i suppose... all i know is it has provided me with my most enjoyable racing experiences  :gtg:

Well, the 'possible cheat' thing shouldn't happen on the SJ servers, cos Giz set the .plr file to ignore possible mismatches.

It used to happen to me if I'd edited my .car file (to get more seat adjustment!).  But it doesn't anymore.

Hmmm. well i have downloaded and tried out many different mods and tracks, but have never encountered that note nor ahve i ever been booted cause of it(unless entering with wrong mod or track installed.
But could happen of course, thinks are fragile in the world of coding and such.

I'm going to focus my energy on GT-Legends.  With David running the rFactor league maybe we'll let GTR-2 for the NA side go.

It's not like there's a lack of events around here as it is!

What if we use the GTR2 mod for RFactor for the NAGTR2 League?  Would that take care of the realism issue?  Is the RFactor Mod more realistic?   :dunno:

I used to have some great times on T's SSR Up All Night server. He introduced me to some great mods for GTR2. But the one I always go back to when I fire up the game offline is the IROC Porsches. Fandamntastic mod there all right.  :salute:

Me! lol
I was just talkin on comms last night how i feel GTR2 is a real skill killer, I installed GTR few days ago.. and the difference is quite large.. in GTR i feel like i really have to drive them cars, but still they are very agile when driven right.. GTR2 feels just so easy handling wise, that im really afraid if i ran only GTR2 my skill would definitely suffer (the reason i call it skill killer).. Of course thats only my opinon.
