Where the hell is the new season already?
« on: April 27, 2008, 03:56:35 am »
Short answer is I don't know. :(

My deepest apologies to everyone. I should have seen this coming and planned for it better. To be honest I have no time at all to even be online right now. I am deeply involved in completing several major projects at work. I am working from early morning till 10-11 pm every night except weekends when I knock off at 4-5 pm. After that I just sleep.  lol

So anyway I have let Marcus know in the Mods thread that I will be AWOL quite a bit for another 2-4 weeks it looks like unless things change. Sorry guys. I'm gutted, but it can't be helped.

Steve

Yeah, no problem Steve.  By the sounds of it you barely have time to eat and sleep!  Hopefully you'll get some free time to relax sooner than later.

Maybe if some of us NASJ drivers are itchin to race, some of us could organize an occasional fun run.  Just a suggestion.  I might try to think of an interesting combo...

Take car of No.1 Steve, racing will be here when you are able to return.

I am sure we can figure out some fun runs to get our GTL fix, a league without you wouldn't be right.

I think some fun runs are in the works too :)

Hey no problem Steve. I have actually been liking this break. I have been able to get some things done and not have to think about a race on Saturday night. However, I do want to get back at it, but it doesn't have to be right away. I have plenty to fill my plate. I would do some fun runs, if they are going to happen. :)

Thanks guys I truly appreciate the understanding!  I can't wait for things to get back to normal and hit the track again.  :yep:
But........
The projects at work mean millions to the company, and significant dinero for yours truly as sales rep by making a certain profit margin. Our engineering manager up and quit a few weeks ago. He was also serving as project manager for these projects, which means we now had no project manager. (We are a smallish 100 person outfit so we all wear several hats.)
So once that happened, someone had to pick up the ball. Since I have PM experience, and an ego large enough to believe I can do both sales and PM........ :twit: I'm not the only one putting in this type of effort though. There are so many people in the company giving everything they have to see us through. I feel really lucky to be working with such a special group.

Anyway, I would encourage you guys to do fun runs, a season if you like, whatever. Please don't think you have to wait on me! Attached is the beginnings of a season that I was starting to put together but is unfinished. It needs some more testing and setting laps, etc. You guys are welcome to use any or all of it for fun runs or a new season. It looks like Dave would be willing to set up the server and that would be a great help. Thanks man!

Thanks again guys.  :)
Steve

I don't really like oval circuits, but I'd still join in.

I was just looking over the proposed season that Steve attached, and I think it looks very good.  I would however like to have a round at Sears Point if possible.  I would suggest Shelby GT350 vs Mercedes 300SL.

I have a couple of other suggestions as well.  The Cobra vs Daytona race at Mosport, would TVR vs Daytona perhaps be a bit more evenly matched?

Also Zandvoort67 with any gtc65 except gt40 and elan, and Nordschliefe with any gtc65 except gt40, I would like to see the Cobra excluded from both of those rounds as well, just to even things up a little bit.

But I love the Cobra, so then I would want to add a Cobra round in there somewhere.  Cobra's at Laguna Seca would be my choice (or maybe Watkins Glen).

Oh, and one more thing... I think it would be awesome if more OSJ drivers joined our NASJ races, for one thing it would increase the size of our grids, and if I'm not mistaken Saturday night in North America is Sunday afternoon in Australia and New Zealand, so it's not unreasonable to think that they could join (unless of course it conflicts with their own season).  I was thinking if we used a lot of Australian tracks then they might be more interested.  But then I noticed that there's only 2 Oceanic tracks in our downloads section (Bathurst & Pukekohe).  That really surprised me because there's so many other fantabulous tracks there!  Such as these ones, which are all available at NoGrip (and there might be more that I missed).

Surfers Paradise!!!
Phillip Island!!!
Melbourne
Eastern Creek
Sandown
Oran Park
Barbagallo
Canberra

I for one would LOVE to race these tracks in GTL!

Anyway, I'm mostly just thinking out loud here, so if my suggestions are shit, just say so.

What Steeve proposed is really interresting, i agree with Finn for
the GtC-65 cars; GT-40 and Cobra( and Elan sometimes) are not matching withthe rest of the class, personelly i'll always take these one where it's allowed. So maybe better to keep it for monotype races.

a category with TVR, Daytona, ferrari and jaguar could be
interresting :?:

Searspoint(infineon) is a is a great track, and i'm open to
discover Aussies tracks, they are all unknow by me exept
surfer's and maybe Melbourne
