Long Time
« on: August 29, 2007, 12:40:39 pm »
Wow! Been awhile since I've done this. I am WAY out of practice. Got on server 1 to do some runs and tweak my controls and forgot exactly how touchy these cars can be. Been practicing with Ford Capri(neat little car) trying to remember what camber and toe-in, etc. does and how it effects performance. Downloaded a set-up online, helps a bit but I need so much practice. Maybe if I had some 50 cal. mounted on I might do better. :yep: And I thought getting use to flying combat planes was difficult.LOL  I appologise ahead of time, if I screw up anybodys race at Goodwood.

Sounds to me like you are pushing too hard, or have a very bad setup.. I think Capri is almost the most stable car in the class. (game too).
What wheel do you have? If its dfp i can give you some suggestions what to do with it.  :)
I cant help it myself, i play GTR2, rFactor, Richard Burns Rally etc.. but there just aint another game that
i would love as deeply as GTL.. must be the cars.. rFactor gets very close though.

No, I'm not pushing too hard, pretty much taking my time actually. Just getting use to it. Having fun even though I suck(badly, hehe) I'm not mad or pissed off, just giving warning. I am looking forward to racing with some people though. I have a Logitech MOMO, by the way. Not using FF though, that would REALLY make me suck.  lol :yep:

I downloaded a set-up for the escort, now do I put that in the specific car or the track location? :dunno:

example path for file:

"C:\GTL\UserData\SJ_PleaseDontShootMe\Settings\Goodwood"

Since you have Momo force you need to drop down the steering lock a lot, its set for 700 degree of rotation when the Momo has 240. I suggest using ffb, and remember to click "reverse effects" in the menu. When you get used to force feedback it will be impossible to run without, its amazing to feel what the car does straight from the wheel. :)

If you're going to use FFB, follow the instructions here for configuring it.  It works great!

And I'll attach a very good setup for the Capri.  It's not my setup, so I won't take credit for it.  It's one that you can download online in gtl.  It should be fine for Goodwood.  The only thing you might need to change is the gears, I'm not sure, I haven't tried it at Goodwood myself.

Was just checking out Drunken Predator setup for the Escort. :excited: SWEET!!! I got down to 88.534 from about 99.000 I really like that. I'm sure thats bad compared to you guys but it was so nice. BTY to get FF to work do I have to istall the software for my MOMO, cause all I did was plug and play and I'm not getting any feedback?

Install this:
http://www.wingmanteam.com/latest_software/latest_soft_main.htm

Theres other good gadgets there too.. yeah when you have installed it, it will launch a program called "logitech profiler" every time you start windows.. Make sure you set it so that it wont be used, theres an option somewhere not to fire it up with windows.. then close it down. It makes more harm than good.. With the gaming software you get the drivers installed too so then you are good to go.

After installing above, and disabling the profiler, go to control panel and change the wheel options.

Force can be on 100% (very strong but lower it from ingame)
both Damper and Spring effects 0% (hardly any game use those its best to take em off)
Centering spring 0%

Ok, ingame.. make sure you have "reversed effects" clicked on, otherwise the wheel will pull to wrong direction..
Set the FFB to "High" instead of "Full", and adjust the strength from the slider.. thats about it.

I hope i got it all covered.. Those are "my way" of doing this, there might be different opinions too.. but i have used such settings for long time and experienced it very good.. all that combined with the Tweaks you were directed to above (flying finns link).. should make ya happy with it. :)

Excellent instructions from General Jarkkovitch.. all I would add is.... even though I like the shape of my nose as it is... perhaps don't dismiss the Logitech Profiler out of hand.... I use it and am happy with it.
