Had my first run.. the game looks nice, sounds nice, runs nice..
Just feels little bit odd.. its not the steering its the physics.

1.05,3 at Lime Rock in Rookie Solstice for the first try, looking forward for next run.

EDIT:1.04,8 on the second run.. i have time trial session about now.. pretty fun so far.

I've received an invite too (thanks Marcus) and I'm eager to test this, but I'm working on a solution for fixing my G25 now... if it doesn't progress fast enough I'll buy a second G25.

Hmm, after 2 prac session, i tried my first time trial. 1:04.196 was the fastest lap with the rookie solstice at Lime Rock.

Well, a bit how it rewards unrealistic driving, but nothing serious. I quite like it, maybe id like a tad more feedback through wheel, but its nice.

Yea, just started messing with it today. Has soon has i turn my g25 slightly either direction the car wants to take off..i notice that about 5 degrees of rotation on my wheel simulates about 300 degrees in the game. Any help on this would be greatly appreicated for us newbs...

Now I have a dilemma to overcome. :-|

I too got an invite in the mail  but I see it is only valid for 30 days  :( I was thinking if I had the invite I could join at my leisure when my racing calendar calms down a bit.

I really want to give this a go, but from what I have read, it sounds like something I could get really hooked on   :)to the detriment of my other racing,  :( which I don't want to compromise as I have so much fun with you guys here.  thumbs up

The cost is a consideration here, as the NZ dollar is no worldwide currency powerhouse and it does not buy a lot and when you have to pay in US dollars, but a few hundred kiwi dollars is not the end of the world.

Hmmmm what to do, maybe I will flip a coin... heads I give it a miss for a while, tails I get a divorce  lol

The email arrived....ooohhhhh, i think.  :rush: straight into it and get it installed, which went well no hitches updated etc,etc

go through the set process gfx, wheel etc,etc straight forward...no probs at all  thumbs up

very well done it is, servers spot on...no lag, very good pings..no probs there either  :nope:

very good the in game voip..nice touch,  although codec is pish  thumbs up

BUT

hmm....i have to say, after a couple of hours at it...get bumped off track n penalised for it, i'm not to impressed to be honest. Not to disimpressed either ( is disimpressed a word)  :?:

it isn't much better than what i have played before...if better at all,  FFB not that good for me.

the lack of being able to set car up is a bummer...this is in the solstice dunno if you can as a rookie in other cars...or they just don't want to give anyone to much of an advantage.

It looks nice...but thought i would be able to run it better with 4 gig black dragon ram and 1 gig gfx card...but i may be missing something  :dunno:

dunno what else to say about it..at this time, i have only tried the solstice at lime rock.

You guys who are right into this...DON'T take offence, this is just my general 1st impressions.
if it turns out to be that it is absolutely fantastic......i will be back to say that, humble pie n all that.

:sorry: But i still won't change my mind about the subscription, no matter how good it is  :salute:

In regards to your FFB:

What wheel do you have? Are you running a wheel profiler? What are your settings in the sim?

In regards to the penalties..if you got bumped off by another car the ruling currently is that the system is a "no fault" system which means both drivers get a penalty and no one is specifically blamed. You can however protest it to iRacing if you feel its worth it.

If you got a penalty for going off ..then its trying to help you by showing you what you can do to be better. The penalties reduce as you go up in License rank.

You are right.  It's not 'publicly' released yet, so an invite is in order.  You might hit up Ski9600 for his invite if you desire one.  I don't think he's planning on using it now.

Congrats on all the new rookies, although Jarrko doing a low 1:04 is no rookie to me :salute:.  I was right on the verge of breaking into the 1:04's before the new gearing change.  So what aspect of the physics do you find unrealistic???

On the steering wheel/FFB do the following:

Windows settings:
900 degrees
Overall effects 99 or 101, not 100
Enable centering spring at zero
Everything else at 0

I like some centering string so I use 20%

Make sure to calibrate steering in game is it seems wacky/overly sensitive.  My calibration settings have changed a few times (dont know why).

Overall FFB strength ingame seems good at 14.

MB,

I personally have no problems hearing your criticisms, I am not a 100% fan and nothing is ever perfect.

I didnt like it at first, well I did like it but thought it was not that different.

Might want to drop down shadows a notch or two, I am running 3840x1024 and am almost always above 100FPS with an 8800GTX, 2.4G Duo, 2 Gigs.

FWIW guys, the FFB on the solstice is deadened just as it is on my miata due to power steering.

The skippy really highlights the FFB but its $15.

Perhaps you can try some roadcoarse laps in the legends car.

Went thru all the cars I have (solstice, legends, skippy and radical) and the skippy has the best FFB 'by far', followed by the radical, legends and solstice.

Its a dramatic difference to me, kind of a workout actually.  You really cant judge this sim without the skippy.

Well bought the Skippy, its pretty nice..
And won my first race, with 15 sec difference to pos.2 who was some licence D guy.
That was my second race, first one went all bollox cause i was polite and gave room, i went on a bad line and slooooowly slided off the track.. completely..
Well, still under 10 sessions done, but very promising fun game, and pure competition which suites
me.

Wow, had an amazing race.. thrilling lapped traffic.. and whole race within a second to the leader..
sometimes side by side.. lapping with wicked maneuvres to gain any advantage or lose as little as possible... damnit.. heated battle if there ever was one. Lost with 0,3 secs in the end..
but i dont even care.. if i get battles like that.. damn..
:)

EDIT:Apparently SR also went up by 50.. so now i can run advanced stuff.
