This is actually me and Tim Wheatley battling hard for 4th place..lol. Tim did a very nice write up on his blog about the race and the fact that even after 13 laps of which we were separated by .3 seconds for all of them.

It does look really good.  The track textures and trees and stuff look very nice, and the motion looks nice and smooth.  Looks like you could really get immersed in that.

 thumbs up

Having driven a few hundred laps in the game.  I can finally weigh in on this.  When in game, the tire scrubbing sounds aren't nearly as noticeable.  What I mean is they don't sound so loud.  I think it's an issue with the replay, and the uploading to youtube/vimeo.

I find the scrub sounds helpful.  They are a good audible indicator of what the car is doing.  It's possible to tell which wheel or wheels is doing the screeching.  Does that make sense?

I'm still trying to get my first win.  Had a second place finish, and about four third place finishes in my last road races.  I'll keep trying until I get it, then I'll try for more.

:gtg:

I heard theres not even individual volume sliders (or any volume slider for that matter), and no promises if they will be implemented. No worries. I definitely belong to the group who will try the highly improved product in half a year if its to be improved. :)

There was an update that was implemented yesterday and sounds were one of the updates. Remote car sounds were updated as well as the car your in and how it sounds. For those with dual core machines and better sound cards you can change the sound level to a higher sampling rate (from 22 to 44mhz) and get better sound. That is ..if you can tell ...the sounds are pretty good as they are.

Yeah, i think its a matter of individual sound systems really. Might work better for some than others.
I do want to try the game, but i guess im not in a hurry.
