Hi

Hello all, more or less stumbled on simjunkies while trying to get to race online (just new at GTR2, it keeps crashing on me most of the time when joining a server, that normal??? ), btw I am from Holland :)

Welcome to Simjunkies Don.

The crashing issue is a well known bug.  It's been so long since I raced it that I can't recall if there are some ways to help prevent that from happening so often.  I'm sure someone will be along shortly who can help you.

have you tried runnig GTR2 in window mode?  For me it resolves 99% of the CTD's I used to experience :salute:

in window mode! hmm i dont think thats an option, i run triple screens... (softTH)
i had a few online races so it IS possible!  -it usually crashes when a players skin is loading after i joined.
surely you cant have all modded skins on your pc???

You are right.  It is impossible to have all modded skins.  Generally though any server running without a password shouldn't be running custom skins.

If you are joining a server and it crashes on loading one driver, I'd say visit their site to see what skins they might be running.  Again though, if running without a password I'd hope they wouldn't use custom skins.

Was it our server you are getting crashes from?

sorry, i dont remember if it was your server, tried so many and was getting very frustrated. didnt know about skins/passworded server, makes sense tho.

 i saw there is a P&G league here, could i just join that one and learn the ropes?  are there practice sessions? so many things to sort out :D

Yep.  Now you're an applicant, you have the password, and all the info you need to join any league you like.  I know it all seems a bit daunting at first, but just have a poke around the site and the forum and you'll feel at home in no time.

Any questions, just ask.

You can always ask for an online practise session., providing that the track is on our server.
The league administrators work hard to get all tracks on the server well before race day.
Marcus, is there a list of who has access to the servers?
Well, Don, you ask me.  :) Or post in the race thread
For instance in: GTL/ ESJ GTL (european timeslot) /events/Jacarapagua

Hope we can get you sorted in some of the races... question that hasn't been asked before.. did you actually "patch" gtr2?  (i do think you have, but just asking anyways..not that the patch helps that much, but it's a start?!)

with 'patched' do you mean GTR2 update to 1.1. or the no-cd patch? updated i have and also using the nocd.
will try go online with cd, but i thought i read somewhere that wont make any difference.
