Il2 sort of starves out, then lives up again, more or like a fireplace... sometimes we chock some wood on it, sometimes we just let it simmer slowly...

Hi Cam, good to have you here, you'll like the atmosphere here. Watch out for the Flying Caspar, he's hard to catch but occasionally he lets some of us mere mortals get on his tail. I've managed to buzz my Mini around him on the odd occasion.

You will find that SJ is probably the strongest and largest GTL community around. Also one of the cleanest to drive with.

Welcome, sounds like you live in or near Cairns, you will enjoy the racing and community here and if GTL is your thing, consider NASJ racing times as well as OSJ, they are mid Sundays here in Aus (or approx 1pm for the daylight saving impared states)

@ [SJ]mixfloors: fortunately there is only one of me, so no twin Cams... Only an 1.5 hours from Cairns, although looking to move closer mid-year. GTL is nowhere near my thing (unless 180 degree spins bring points) but I do love the cars and have decided to use it more. I would love to one day be competitive in the Escort, but realise I have bucketloads of work to do before that happens.

I keep hearing about the Alfatina races so I will try to get on there soon (as soon as I work out where the details are).

Well wedge, the idea of GTL is, NOT to start with the overpowered cars, but gradually work your way up... i do like the escort too, just not it's flaming end it's usually posessed near the end of a race by the firegods... so's the pantera

Fridaynight for us, that would be saterdaymorning for the southern hemisphere starts about 10.15 pm GMT Fridaynight with it's practice and qualisession (but we dont take that very seriously) as it's our dwunk-dwiving-Coors. no medals, no prizes, no sorry's, just plain and simple drunken close racing... and you bet yer tailfeather it's damned fast.... due to liquid courage... but very clean usually... untill ofcourse you have to pick up the beerbottles you left behind... but most of all, it's layd back fun in GTL, a night out at your home.

If you like the old cars, but don't like the 180s, then Power & Glory may be for you. It's a supermod for GTR2 that has lovingly crafted some of the cars from GTL plus a whole bunch more in to the GTR2 engine ... it's a superb piece of work that I whole heartedly suggest you give a try.

Alfatina runs Sat morning about 10am start time Qld time, 4 x 15min races that take about 2 hours. It is an "aquired" taste to say the least.....

It is esential that you hook up to Ventrillo, there is a video of how to do it in the members section at the bottom of the forums which will spoon feed you through the process (even I figured it out, and I am no computer guru!!) Even if you dont have a mic, its good to listen in.

Its a great way to have some fun, meet people and listen to them get progresivly blitzed..... There are different level drivers limited cars and the atmosphere is very relaxed and one of fun, a good place to learn. You can make plenty of mistakes and not get flogged for it like a serious league. Its how I got hooked on GTL.
If you can spare the time to join in its well worth it.

How lucky am I, first alfa tina drops by for a barby at bathurst, then a couple of weeks later right in my back yard at Amaroo, still cleaning up your beer cans from that one....
and now your off to Melbourne for the "weekend at Bernie's" shindig.

While you are there drop in and say hi, after his latest suggestion of "most GP wins is world champ and wanting to give out medals to podium" I have decided to head down there myself.
I will be in the third floor window of the book depository, just next to the grassy noll......waiting for Bernie and Max.

Yeah, agreed on most of us have no clue the rest of the world exists. But I don't watch the news (Of course our media thinks the world ends at the East Coast too...

) and am not a sports fan nor do I follow celebrities, so even if something happened here, I'd probably not know.
