Hello from Australia
« on: August 01, 2009, 10:40:48 pm »
Hello all,

I'm a avid gamer from Melbourne, Australia and have been playing lots of games since the 1970s.  My favorite racing games include:

- Pole Position (Atari 2600)
- Gran Turismo II (PS)
- Need For Speed: Special Edition (PC)
- Colin McRae Rally 2.0 (PC)
- Rally Championship 2000 (PC)
- Richard Burns Rally (PC)
- GTR Evolution (PC)

Including above, I play Real Time Strategy, First Person Shooters and Simulation games with my two all time favorite games being Company of Heroes and Transport Tycoon Deluxe.

I also play The Sims 3. lol

Looking forward to meeting you on the track

Cheers

Oh by the way, I can see clan members put [SJ] at the front of their name.  How do I do that on this web site?

Thanks

Hi mate

Welcome to SJ.  If you want to join up and get racing, you just need to hit the 'Join Simjunkies' button on the left there.  Fill in and submit the form, and you'll be given all the info you need.

You get the 'SJ' tag once you've successfully completed the gruelling, vigourous and humiliating inauguration process...  Don't worry it only lasts a month.

 :D

Hi Beef, Here's a quick rundown.
First you need to hit the  'Join Simjunkies' button on the left. Fill out the form and our main man Gizmoto will send you an eMail with the server passwords and all the stuff you need to get going (He's UK and human, so it won't be instant).
From there, just have a look at the games we play in the time zones that we play them in and see what is a good fit for you.
We're a social bunch with an average age a bit higher than most places, so feel free to contribute to any discussion threads that interest you.
Applicants are our guest for 30 days. After that period we hold a vote and, unless an applicant is a complete knob or has little or no activity, they normally get voted in. At that point you get your SJ tag and all the forum opens up to you, we all have a big drink and the bill gets forwarded to you :)

Enjoy :)

Doh! my Portly pal beat me to it :)

Hi Beef and welcome to SJ.  Some varied gameplay there mate.  I really enjoy a spot of RBR and CoH too.

Have you checked out GT Legends mate?  A very strong player base here so it might be worth your while finding a copy (ebay is your friend) and giving it a shot.  That will open up the Alfatina events for you too.  A great way to meet the community at their 'best'...

If you need anything, feel free to drop a pm my way, I'll do what I can or point you in the right direction... (which way is up?!?)

EDIT: Just remembered RC 2000! Brilliant piece of work with super long stages and very pretty scenery!  If only someone would create a modern day RBR/RC 2000 lovechild!

Hi Beef, and welcome from yet another Aussie. I'm at the outer edge of the age bracket, still searching for Wheelchair Racing Legends but haven't found it yet.  :blue rinse:

Check out the OSJ Events, a great way to spend your Sunday evenings, or the Alfatina's are an ideal starting point if you have GTL, some top Saturday morning entertainment where SJ'ers from all over the world get together and have a drink (and some racing too   :toast: :D ).

Thanks guys.

I bought GT Legends the first day it came out, however I haven't installed on my current games PC, as I don't like Starforce.  :grr:

I am keen to play GTR Evolution online however   :)

Your first name wouldn't happen to be "Bill" now would it?    he's a hater too.. haha

***muffled voice***We've got "ways" around it though... but first take a picture of yourself holding that copy of GTL  ;)

Anyways, welcome Beef, you are looking at the best of the bunch that have just replied to you... well.. best AND worst... depends on how much you like to laugh.
Hope to see you on track soon.

Gidday from another Skippy, ex-QLD'er, now Snynite...
You should find plenty of racing here, get yourself attached to Ventrillo and you will meet some really great guys here from all round the globe, not just us great aussies.....LOL

OSJ have plenty of racing and NASJ nights are the next day (early afternoon here) so there can be some great weekend racing (if you have to work) WSC 1970 is a cracker of a mod for some seriously challenging racing (quick plug for the NASJ tin top boys there)

Alfa tina is a great social event as WD mentioned and you can listen in as the rest of the world gets plastered and tries to race.
you will hear plenty of "eeee baa goom, thaaaaat were a luuuvly paaaaaass" from the land that think they spawned us colonials...

Have a great time and holler to anyone for help
Mike

It is possible to have GTL without Starfarce, and I don't think it's disapproved of as you need a legit on-line code to play.
There are a couple of ways I think, one involves going to gamecopyworld.com and getting the crack, then going to the Starforce site and using their own removal tool to remove the infestation from your PC.
I'd try that way first as I believe it has a good success rate.
If that doesn't work, post up and we'll explore the second way.

Remember, gamecopyworld ostensibly exists for you to back up your own purchased games, which is essentially what you are doing, so don't think you are wearing an eye-patch and shouting "keelhaul the scurvy dog" as you are doing it :)

Cato was talking about buying one of those posh new video recording machines for the Goodwood trip. I'm going to try and coerce the gang into walking like sailors all the way around track, rolling gait, a cheeky wink to the ladies, cries of "Aye Aye Cap'n" and all :)
