Good to see yaa back. I will be saving for a new External Hard Drive. as my 250 seagate External Hard Drive is nearly full, as well as saving for 2 new tyres for the back of the Daewoo.

Excellent pont as I don't see a hard drive (size) listed there.(?) Did I just miss it?

Funny as even though I got 2 TB now I still practice keeping everything compressed etc..lol

I am looking into your hardware to try n figure out why the frames are so low on your PC in rFactor m8.

First. P4 CPU.  even though it is a big P4 it still, from what I can tell, is a single core and a bit outdated. Correct me if I am wrong here, but I had a P4 3.0 GHZ 1,5 years ago before I switched to 2.6 GHZ E6750 Core 2 Duo.
Now, rFactor should still work quite good with this, but have a full grid with high settings still aint going to do well.

Memory is fast enough and the amount should be sufficiant. Unless you are running Vista, wich is shit on memory and uses to much even to run normal.

GFX. the ATI x1900. I dunno if it is 256 or 500MB, but still, it is and semi old card. My last card was a x1950 pro 256 in combo with the P4 3.00GHZ CPU and even though I ran rFactor on maxed out settings, I had to really turn things down depending on the mod and how many cars.

I still have to say that I find your extreme low frames a bit puzzling. But I dunno what settings you had on.

The most important things is to maybe set down oponent cars settings. And have fewer visible cars. Turn off mirrors, atleast on starts.

Lemme know how things work and where you are taking the worst impact.

About the F3 race. The mod is NOT that hard on the PC and the 1988 tracks by.Carrera4 is some of the better tracks comes framewise.

T's rig is a bit better than my last rig.  (The one I'd still have if it weren't for you all)  Until the MB decided to take a dive, that PC ran all the Gmotor race sims perfectly.  With frames well above 35 on large grids.

I'm no hardware expert, but I do think it should be performing much better than it is.  I just wish I knew where to start.

Finally got some decent drivers and seems for the most part a tad better, and the X1900 is a 512mb ddr3 card . And yes they arent "new" by any means but it is a 3.4HT , the mobo is a gigabyte G4 with 1100 FSB, 16X pci, not running vista. And rf isnt a taxing game by todays standards, and i was getting these types of FPS's with the older pc, and i'm not looking for 150 fps's, but 15 aint gonna cut it. I should be able to run full on most in game settings and get atleast 60 fps all the time. Either way thanks for ya help guys and i'll keep tweaking.

hi man

good to see you, smart looking machine.

yes i also think you should be getting more FPS, here are a few ideas

1. try a new install of rfactor in another location, i deleted most of rfactor by mistake and did a new install in another location and almost doubled my FPS.

2.have a hut about in bios and check the graphics card settings. best to google for aperture/fast write and stuff for your mobo.

3.try changing your FSB to match your memory speed, faster is not always faster, it might not make any difference and you change it back.

4.take a note of all your settings before changing anything :)

cheers

just to let you know. the pentium 3.4HT is  basically a dual core, you can check for sure by pressing alt-ctrl and delete to bring up the taskmanager then right clicking on anything in the processes box and then clicking set affinity, this will tell you how many cores are working on any particular process.

also, for ultimate tweaking, go to knowfree.net and look for a free e-book called "the big book of windows hacks"

i used this on my old system and boy,did it make a difference.

the only holdback i see with your rig is the gfx card, but as long as it's a pci-e it should be reasonable.

also, what antivirus software are you running?

cos some ie norton are severe resource hoggs and dramatically slow down a system when it comes to gaming.

i'll see if i can remember what else i did to my old system and let you know.

Dave

No you are right. rFactor aint new, but some mods might still kick due to heavy polygons, well to many polygons....

But I am glad to see that you have some better results... Drivers might have a lot of different impacts between them..... So worth checking until you are happy.. find some older ones for your card perhaps.... since the card is a bit old, older drivers might have better performance....
