Setups slow to load...
« on: June 10, 2009, 11:24:24 am »
Race 0 7/ GTR Evo. When I enter the Files menu from car setup, it takes such a long time to bring any files up in the listings. I'm talking 30 seconds or so. Then when I find the one I want it takes another 15 - 20 seconds to load the file. Anything I do in the game with loading or saving files is a time wasting mission.

Just want to know if anyone else has this problem.  :hmm:

My PC isn't THAT slow - Dual core 3gb, 2Gb RAM, plenty of storage space... :dunno:
Any ideas?
I have cleaned ouy many 'old' setup files that I don't use but doesn't seem to have any effect.

Same shite here m8, maybe not 30 seconds, but sure is slow, think it is because it auto loads everything, maybe even online files....
But it goes through every car every track, so it might also depend on how much you have installed.

set-ups section in Race07 has been slow as hell since the update that changed the on-line set-ups layout ....the way you can now look for files should be faster but alas they have screwed something up in there somewhere :|

yup, since the update the setups been in your documentfolders and that shit slows them realy hard down. it need also much longer to load the game, load TA´s and onlinesetups. And the biggest prob is that i can sometimes change the splitter and wing by the Minis :o lol

Haha, good to hear.
Maybe I need to clean my system out a little more thoroughly & see if that helps.

Cheers guys.

TBH, what is actually happening each and every time you navigate to the setups browser (in the garage in-game), is that Race 07 et al is doing a full search of the CarSetups folder and then creating a database based on that linking cars and tracks... If like me you have around the 9374 setups I have, due to all the car(stock & mod)/track/etc combos, many being the default setups...You can see how long it will take...

For me, it takes a long time to join the setups menu and just as long to join online files.  It's quicker to load the setups than you're saying.

Cheers,
Steve

I was told to make exceptions in My Aintivirus software for the folders where my Game is kept, thus stopping it from scanning each file before it is opened. This has helped somewhat...

THIS, exactly

I think the update was around 4~5 months ago and it just seems to be one of those things that you need to allow for when you're getting ready for a race.   I doubt if it will ever be fixed.  It's kind of like how the scroll wheel worked properly in Sinbin's GTL, but then didn't work in GTR2 and was never fixed.  LOL, send an error report if it messes up in their newest game RacePro, maybe someone will be able to hack it.
