Outlook express crash prolbem.

Dunno if anybody has any ideas but I'm having trouble with outlook express crashing on my wifes log in account. it's ok on all other account/Log in. I did have a some virus's (7 in total) which i got rid of but they were only affecting my account/log in. it does seem it's since this infection. have reinstalled office etc and still the same. maybe some one knows how to recover emails and address book from outlook without running it. I don't want to do a reformat of the hard disc really as everything else is pukka.

Sounds like your wife's pst file is corrupted.
If there is nothing important in her eMails than you can just delete it and a new one will be created (back it up before you delete it obviously), other than that you may have to spring for paid repair software.

.. this is only my opinion... and you know what state I'm normally in at this time of night :)

Well peter, i know yer normally lubed by now. pst eh?? pay to repair software? such as what. never used that before.

I just had a bit of a Google, and the received wisdom seems to be to delete the inbox.dbx file.
Easiest way to locate it is to click the Start button, select search and type in 'inbox.dbx' (you will have to enable search in hidden files or folders)

As before, take a backup then delete it.

As long as you do this sober, and take a note of where the original files were located (in case you need to paste back your backups) you'll be fine.... honest :)

never found inbox .dbx  file. so removed pst and created new one. still the same.

tried putting wifeys pst into another windows account and it worked. Kin 'ell! :excited:

so setup new windows account and deleted old one, transfered documents etc SORTED!   :excited: :hats off: :hats off:
