Im about to order me a new monitor. It will be 26"-28".

Couple questions.
Anyone have experiences with the new Asus monitors? They are pretty cheap and have very good features in them.

Anyone can tip me what i really should be watching out for, when getting a monitor?

I have a Asus 24" at work, and have all good things to say about it.

Good lighting and very good picture.... Nice and crisp.... 1920-1200 max res on it.....

But my 22" BENQ at home is also just superb......

The thing is i havent found big enough monitor from BenQ.. 26" is the smallest ill get.. im gonna have it for long time so i dont want to do compromises, but i still cant pay crazy amounts of money.

LG and Asus are my options atm.

Dunno bout LG then, but Asus is something I am happy with at work...

Not xpensive either.

Would it be cheaper to get an LCD TV perhaps Jarkks ... the way the economy is at the moment anything is possible and you could really go supersize

Depends on the resolution the TV will give ya.....

Yeah, i was recommended a 27" LG HDTV, about the same price (bit more expensive), and real 16:9 instead of 16:10, which is a bonus..
And the guy uses it for simracing, and says its very good. A very good option.. but unforunately it will cost bit more than a 26" monitor..
2 weeks until i can make my purchase, so time to plan.

The only thing about my rig I made a mistake on was monitor size.

Get the best/biggest you can possible get. I would go overboard on the monitor if I could "do it again".

i have a LG W1942s Monitor its the best i have brought. I brought it from tesco cause when i was looking for 1 i wanted the the quick response time and picture quality it has 5ms, 8001:1,Visual OSD
its brill but people hav different op have a look

Ive been looking at a 2ms, 20000:1 contrast, 26" wide screen from Asus.. has a webcam too.

my only input would be to look for the best response time, lower the better.

ie, the samsung 22" widescreen i use is reported to be 2ms

al i know is it is superb clarity and it really makes a difference to the way i play

I know going from my 19" crt to this 24" LCD was wonderful...

I was leery but man, what a difference! I'm sold..

I also learned when doing this that it's good to check similiar models as this was only 10 dollars more than their 22" (and since learned there's a HUGE jump in quality from 22-24" especially resolutionwise) and again, my second monitor: I was looking at the 17" which had great reviews and reputation then discovered this one which is listed as 18.5" was a mere 10 bucks more...

Never hurts to check that stuff.

I went with two 24" Samsung's T240's. Only regret was I didnt check out the stands before I bought them. If you are considering wall mounts or a desk swing arm this is something to check out. I'll have to make a custom arm to hold both of them.
Heres the twins, Finally got my CPU cooler, my new pc is 80% built!

I've got the 22" Asus (A-sUs I guess it is, although I would say A-sus) and run at 1680x1050 with no probs. However, I want to say that with the larger sizes and more pixels it really depends on the manufacturer of the lcd. I'm not sure if Asus is the actual manufacturer of the screen or if they just source the parts and assemble them.

Therefore, I would only buy from someone that I trust will stand behind the product and support me to the manufacturer and that I trust will not delete negative reviews on the website. A few extra bucks for that kind of assurance is worth it IMHO.

Well, ive only heard good about the monitor im going to buy..
It should give one helluva gaming experience.
Measured how big the 26" will be when put where its gonna be... (right next to wheel on my table) HUGE! especially compared to my currect 16".

They have it in stock in two weeks.. cant wait to get mine!!!

I think any brand name is all right and as said, check reviews, good as well as bad. I found quite a few LCDs with quite bad reviews. Mostly dead pixels.

Myself, I got Acer P244W and Acer X183H and love them.

I've heard people put down Acer but I've used their products for 5 years now as our first PC was one,

, and have never had a problem with them so had no problem this time as I tend to stick with companies I have experience with. The other side of that is if a company let's me down I NEVER give them business again!

i read somewhere that there are only 2x ACTUAL manufacturers,and that's samsung and don't quote me,but i think the other is sony.

i'm not sure if that is still the case.
