Gosh, AVG keeps coming up with these errors
« on: February 14, 2009, 05:25:13 am »
Hi all,

Sorry to be posting this, but AVG (been using it for a year or so) has started coming up with errors when I startup Firefox.  There's a little window that says "ignore" "heal" or "remove".  And there's another little check box that says "do action as power user".   So, I try "do action as power user" and "remove".  The darn thing keeps coming up.  I've tried other combos and still the same.

It used to be that IE wouldn't bring up errors, but now it does.

I've run AVG, SpybotS&D, and AdAware.

Is there any new ideas out there?

Also, if any of you see e-mails from ski (goodlookingguy) @ (some popular website starting with y).com, please let me know ASAP.  I don't want my friends to catch a but!

Cheers,
Steve                                                 moo

Steve, give Unhackme a shot, it reveals what some others miss (and was the choice of software of the Semantec tech when he was trying to rid an infection at work that his own company's crappola software couldn't find)

I think it may be due to the games on facebook that I've been playing.  The file that is detected is "cookies.sqlite".  I think this has to due with the scripts on the facebook games (mob wars, mafia wars, pirates) and is located at c:\documents and settings\my name\application data\mozilla\some weird alpha numeric\

If you know the location of the file causing the errors, why not just DELETE it.  :?:

I've done that, but it does keep coming back smaller but the same file name.

You guys that are playing on facebook, do you have that file too?

I've googled that file, and it seems that it's just "potentially dangerous".  Not really a bad file unless someone is malicious.

Cheers,
Steve

Hey Steve, I don't have that file (just looked) and I have not installed those facebook apps you mentioned either. I would remove those facebook apps, get rid of that file then add the facebook apps back one at a time till you find the suspect. Once found you can simply remove it again and not add it back or whatever you prefer  :dunno:  :D
