Hey guys,
ever since i've installed Mozilla firefox with the "googleupdate" thingo, i've been having a program in my services as of late that has given me problems.
Upon the "googleupdate.exe" running in my taskmanager and me stopping the program under:
Control Panel->administrative tools->services (scroll down untill you see Googleupdate, and right click, properties, turn it off.. )
i thought the program would have been stopped.. but it wasn't... it popped right back up again.
with problems i mean it trying to update itself, allowing itself (not me) access to internet and handing me out Disconnects during leagueraces... which anoyed the crap outtof me... everytime a leaguerace is about to start now i alt-tab back to desktop, hit CTRL-ALT-DEL and click task manager.... and browse through the list if i saw googleupdate... it was there 9 outtof 10 times... i might have screwed something up in the install back then, but very certain i am not about this "fact" as i usually watch like a hawk for tickboxes.
So now i did a googlesearch.. after i was pissed off that it accessed the internet and gave me a bloody BSOD!!
here's the answer:
it's a scheduler!
do a search on your harddrives for "Googleupd*" ... one of the things that pop up will (hopefully not) be a agenda type logo.....
right click it, properties... set it to update only ONCE A MONTH... .. it wont be completely gone... but i cant say thruthfully that i'll have my computer on on the 1st of next month at 7.48 am.......
Best of luck to you out there... i love google.. but this is like a hidden virus, at least.. it's safely "telling me" that it's downloading stuff to keep my browsing safe... yet i ... dont like stuff that intervenes wtih other programs.
best of luck, hope it helped some of you out there
