Question about wheels from a n00b

Hello all, this is my 1st post here. I bought GTL about 3 years ago, but because my copy came without an ID key for online play, I've hardly played it. I just dug it out today and I'm surprised and pleased to see there's still an active community playing it. ;)

Currently my better PC wheel is broken. I have a Xbox 360 wheel that will work on my PC, but unfortunately when run on the PC it doesn't support Force Feedback. My other broken wheel - Logitech Wingman Formula Force GP- does have FF. I could repair it with the purchase of a tool, but money is tight right now and I don't want to spend if I don't have too. It's also buried in the deepest, darkest, depths of an offsite storage locker, so getting it is a bit of a hassle.

What I'm looking for is feedback as to whether Force Feedback is critical or necessary to effectively play this game?

People have been known to play without FFB as a preference - and others have even used a keyboard!  But from my point of view, I'd say FFB is a major contributor to the satisfaction and enjoyment in this and any other driving game.

So, it's neither critical nor necessary, but it's pretty important if you want to get the most from it.

There are those who actually argue against ffb at all. So, no, it's probably not "neccessary" but it definitely adds to the experience.

 If funds can be released, you may want to check into the Thrustmaster wheels or even look for a used wheel. I started with a used Logitach DFP myself.

 Anyways, welcome to SimJunkies and you may want to click on the "Join us" button, I believe on the left? Then you can become an applicant and have access to the servers and such things.

Welcome :)

Force feedback is not required whatsoever but as noted above it does contribute a lot towards the realism of driving on track in any sim. If you never used it you are probably OK but if you are used to it and are now without it  :dunno:

As Den mentioned, give the Join Simjunkies button a click in the top left and we will see you on track :)

Welcome sir.

I agree on the FF.
Have driven without but since I know what it does...
And better  FF gives better and faster driving for most people, although some GPL aliens still wouldn't touch it.  :o
Imagine feeling more or less of the wheels in a real car., that's how cool FF is I think.
And then to personalise FF in every game or mod is another interesting thing.

Even a Microsoft with FF is fun fun fun fun fuuuun!
