Great idea Giz... I too took it out at le Mans, and it flies (literally!) at the place.  Sounds are fantastic, as is the model, and the physics are suitably difficult to master, which i am sure would have been the case for the real car.  A worthy addition IMO.

I'm glad to see the add ons also as it tells me that GTL will continue to get support.

I triedf rFactor but, I find the quality of the mods are not very um, regulated? Not sure how to put it. Some are GREAT, and some are...?? Not so great.

Seems GTL and GTR2 have much better consistent quality on the mod community.

Dent, you have to remember that rFactor is built in mods entirely. Not everythings i good and you need to know what to use. If you want good mods for rFactor I will be happy to make a list of great stuff for you in any section of the game.

F1 or any open wheel class
GT class
Touring class

You name it.
There is shitload of good things for rFactor. Just need to know what to use. and where to use it.

I won't take up this thread with it, but maybe I'll shoot you a PM on that. One thing I found was the reviews etc on rfactorcentral aren't as good an indicator as rthey are on say here or NoGrip.

There seem to be a few mods that have excellant ratings yet they well, suck, LOL. Though the Caterham mod is pure heaven!

Well, what may suck to one, might be really great to another. A lot of this is just opinion, but some mods can generally be good and some bad.

I love rFactor for its variety and how it was built for mods.

I would agree with all in reguards to the quality issues of some mods but am thankfull that they are available, that's how things improve, by Trial and Error.

Now as for this 935 Porsche monster mod, new classification : GT/"SUPER" '76  :hats off:
It's in a class by itself for the time being.

rFactor 2.0 seems to have some cracking tricks up it's sleeve .. sun rays breaking through the clouds drying only portions of the track. Animation system for ALL objects, not just flags, marshals and crew, fully developed weather system ...

Thanks all. I am grateful for sure. I know if we had half this stuff 30 years ago, I may never have left the house! I'm glad we have it NOW but if we had it THEN, I may never have even cared about girls! Or at least, had time for them. I know I'm obsessive...... rofl

Seriously though. I sometimes think my own kids will take all the technology in games etc for granted whilst I myself find myself still quite fascinated. I mean, I never thought I could be so immersed in a sim (rfactor Caterham did me that!!) that I "WAS driving". Yet I see on say the console forums young kids who say they're BORED and waiting for the "next step"!!

I see what can be done and now after next month adding a few 'tweaks' to my own and my wife's PC will be happily saving for a G-25 to get some "feel" in the pedals. If I can do this "stuff", anyone can.

I remember all those years ago reading in Car & Driver and Road & Track about the DP935s. Being a mere kid, I didn't understand a lot, but nevertheless was enthralled by the Kremers, etc and remember the story of one quite famous team that was erm. "financed by snow"..LOL.

I went TWENTY YEARS without EVER missing an issue of C&D including a period of homelessness and drug addiction spreading across the East coast of Canada hitch hiking, yet ALWAYS got my C&D fix. (When I married my first wife I had a HUGE box of 2 decades of the mag going back to 1978 that I refused to let go of!)  Nowadays, well, I haven't bought an issue of Car & Driver in 2 years at least and was rather sporadic the last 5 or so as they hit middle age and were more concerned about how many airbags could be stuffed in a minivan rather than automotive fun and mayhem.

But alas, as my hair grows greyer and longer, I discovered and love CAR Magzine fron the U.K. and they DO still have that sense of fun that C&D has lost.

Oh, did I mention MiLady calls me "Tangent Boy"? LOL.

Seriously, GT Legends and mods like this make my day so much brighter. The sounds, the glorious pop off "suck-hiiss-boom". Oh man oh man! I can't drive it worth a SH** but I can (even with my damaged hearing) HEAR it and FEEL it!

Today, I am relaxing and hammering the Falcon about LeMans but oh it sounds so sweet crackling and popping through the pipes on the over run, Makes me fondly remember my '73 Ranchero with 3" pipes. And I am THINKING about later THIS (935) mod and how I'm going to try it out. As I am finally getting to just drive rather than try to keep my PC working. But I will work my way up to this with short bouts of insanity doing it anyways. Hahahaha.

Best part? I can drive it without wrecking an actual museum piece of history. thumbs up

Speaking of sounds, how 'bout the blow-off valve sneezing when letting up on gas, almost like it's angry that you can't keep your foot in it  lol . The sound is really a german engineer saying "pussy" with his hand over his mouth.  :yep:

I have the GTR2 cars for GTL installed. (They show up in the GTC-TC 76 class) To give you an idea of just HOW fast that Porsche 935 is...It easily competes with the GTR2 cars!  thumbs up

At first, I couldn't drive it AT ALL. But, after much setup experimentation + practice, I was able to laps around Montherly in it offline.

It's really the BEAST that the real car must've been. And the GTR2 cars seem to be the only cars in my game that can compete with it. I love the sound of the turbo(s?) when you let off the gas!  At the same time, the turbocharger makes it difficult to drive on the throttle at first. There's very little feel of power until the turbo winds up, and THEN...Hold on!!  :punt:

That was one of the things I struggled with at first. I think I finally settled on the default brake bias (54-46?) and lowered brake pressure. Engine braking and light-moderate foot braking gets the job done for me.  ;)

The 935 reminds me a lot of how the 956 drives in the Group-C mod... very fast in a straight line, scary as hell to stop, and really crap through a corner.

Realistic I would say... just because these cars were built to win Le Mans and Daytona.  Turning isn't the most important at those places.  Acceleration and Top Speed is what matters there, and the 935 and 956 have that.

Why is it that Modders who create these Mods think that all the older Historic cars were so impossible to drive..I just dont get it..it was a "Race Car" wich means it should handle and react to inputs accordingly wich this car doesnt...not by a long shot imho. My old 69 GTO I had drove better than this did..just erks Me that everyone thinks these cars were so tough to drive so thats the way they mod them. Rant over.

Well, the gentlemen driving those 935's back then were not your average Joes.
Sure, they made it look easy...  :)

The cornering speed of the 935 (in GTL) is very good I think. Also, the brakes do their job properly, so I wouldn't say it's all about straight line speed. The most difficult part is of course corner exit where you have to be gentle with the throttle. But do you think it was/is any different irl with those old school (laaaaaaaaaag) turbo engines?

I'm not saying the car's physics are spot on, but I think the "impression"/idea is ok.
