Information regarding the last GTL carpack.
« on: August 23, 2007, 11:12:03 pm »
We have discussed the matter and its being worked on, we have decided following:

We make this one last pack include all the cars we use in SJ, so we see what cars to drop out from the old packs and also add some new.. then put them all together to a one big SJ carpack.

So that means there are some of the old cars left in your installs that you cannot use anymore in races. which ones to leave out is yet undecided.. but getting there. From this point to release it will take the minimum of 2 weeks, possibly even more.
Hang in there, lots of great cars will be added too, Stick has a lot ready, Im gonna finish the lot of Shelbys for it.. im sure others have some cars to add there too.

The future of carpacks will most likely be GTR2 packs. Since the ambitions of SJ are evergrowing, im planning to take more professional approach on the matter and the cars will be tested but also reviewed.. so they need the full approval of Grand jury until they end up in a pack. Im saying this in advance, and especially putting pressure on the thought of not getting upset if your car wont be there. Sure as hell im gonna make myself some cars that wont be accepted too. So this is how the future looks atm, more info when more is decided and i have presented some of my ideas and they have been chewed a bit.

good thinking. will make it much easier for new members to get into racing on the server with a single carpack download.
trim away but be warned!

Ok. i know i am gonna get burned here.
But i am gonna say it anyway..

Even though GTL maybe never will retire from simjunkies, i find it time for GTR2 to take over more of the leagues.(yeah yeah i know. throw stones at me. i don`t care)
The "racing" xperience is alot better than in GTL, and the feeling of going around the track in a racing car compare to the cars in GTL is alot better.I might be speaking only for myself here but anyway.

There is alot of things out there for GTR2 as you might or might not know.

Tracks, cars, mods, its all out there, and now we got alot downloaded from NO-GRIP on many Simjunkies computers, so we should start using it.

I know there will be alot of work for admins and mods to get all this sorted, and how the future of SJ will be is all somewhat unknown.
(maybe not for admins but for us commoners it is)

Gtr2,maybe Race, Race 07, rFactor(maybe a second edition of rFactor???)
I do think GTL will be here for many years to come still, i have the game myself(and i suck at it) but i now seek for Series like gtr2 and Race atm.
when or if we get a race league up i would trade that for STCC mod for rFactor any day.

Should there be needed help for uploading, setting up, whatever i can be helping with, i will do it.(i do not demand and refuse to help getting it done)

Long post with things i needed of me chest, but it is out there now.

feel free to stone me for wanting less GTL and more GTR2(you better throw pretty damn hard to get me here anyway.

Well thats your opinion and thats ok.. but GTR2 league still seems to be a minority compared to any other game in SJ, rFactor and GTL get more racers constantly. I personally prefer rFactor over GTR2, and GTL... Theres just something special about those old cars. what was silly was to say its time for GTR2 to take out some leagues, when theres couple running and without doubt more folk run GTL and rFactor.

Sure. you are of course right, but i keep my opinion on it anyway.
And GTL i guess is the reason for this great community in the first place.

Dunno... i find as of late that GTR2 and RACE give me more satisfaction than other race sims.
But hey....... i know that i am in a minority group of this.
Doesn`t stop me from shouting out anyway.
I am straight forward and will speak my words with no thoughs of being voted down for being stupid.

Rest my case in this anyway. i have said what i wanted.
And i will still enjoy SJ no matter what will be. that is one sertain thing.

and i ment no harm in any of my words.

dude no worries it was just an opinion. :)
I do like GTR2 a lot myself, but in the end i think i enjoy more of rFactor and GTL. Race is still a bit of an question mark, excellent game but soo heavy. feck i have a big large headache, last time i sleep window wide open.

I just bought RACE, but I've only tried it out once so far.  I'm unsure how much I like it at this point.  When I can't get a Mini around Monza GP, there's definitely some tweaking needed!   lol  :L:

I'm looking forward to RACE07 too.  Will prolly be checking that one out.  As for the others, my current preference is in this order:

1. rFactor
2. GTR2
3. GTL

But, HEY...I just like racing!   :gtg:

I have a better idea.... i've just ordered all the pigeons and dogs to take a shit in your path on the way to the airport next week...

that'll give a new meaning to the conveyor belts at the airport saying "mind your step" ....  "mind your step"  (or is that just at Schiphol/Amsterdam here?!)  :excited:

And i'm betting you'd believe it the next time you walk into some dogsh*t m8.. hehe.. bombs away pigeons!  :hand up:

But ok..  opinions are there to be killed and make everyone say the same thing...... NOT!  :knockout:

It's OK m8, hahaha.. had a whole piece written.. deleted it with one stroke of the mouse.... ehr... i mean.. ah hell.. one selection with the mouse cursor....   :yep:

since when is there an apology for changing the subject of a thread m8, it's the SJ-WAY!

Woof ~ Woof

opinions are there to be shared,  right..?.   (hehe.. and you know i dont like GTR2, so nothing personal, just business   .)

I like GTL the most. It rocks.

Some more info for you who are in a hurry.

We are working on the new pack, lot of it is done.. but bit more will be done. What we are aiming for is to weed out some of the bad cars (lot of it done), and also include some new cars for your pleasure.. Then we will be presenting a new installer too, one that will make it even easier and find your GTL folder automatically. lol

Just to be crystal clear, will we be able to just install over current directories or will a fresh GTL install be required?  :gtg:

An overwrite will work, but as always, it'd be better to remove the old ones first.

Perhaps if some kind soul would make a list of which cars are default and which are addons, you could just remove all but the defaults before adding the new pack.

Or, back up the .plr file and do a fresh install.  I think i might to the latter.

Yeah should overwrite, but most definitely im gonna do a reinstall myself, partly to be able to say:
"well i have no problems and i have installed the SJ carpack myself."
Ive had to say that god knows how many times when ppl try to put their own errors on my carpacks.  :punk:  lol
