GTL main Lobby down

I believe the main GTL lobby has been down (again) for a couple of days now. Looks similar to previous "issues", does anyone here know any more? Didn't Simbin take over the running of this lobby?  :?:

Aye Simbin is responsible for them now.  Seems a tradition of going down on Holiday weekends has been carried on.  lol

Here is the feedback received by one of the RD Admin staff from Simbin. Looks like it is not terminal, but may take some time to be back.

The GT Legends lobby system is down as most of you will know. The reason is that a formerly 10Tacle owned domain name integral to the service was discontinued the other day after obviously not being paid by the now defunct 10Tacle company..

SimBin are now in the process of buying the domain name to get the lobby up and running again. If things go smooth it should be back in a matter of a few days... but if the URL can for some reason not be purchased then a patch has to be made instead in order to keep GTL alive, and that will take more time. SimBin are commited to seeing this situation through and make GTL available online again, but there are no official timelines on the matter.

More like.. pretty damn respectable if they still see trouble for GTL (well obviously they do) :)

It's really very easy to make a patch to just change the url/ip where of the lobby... It's not like a lot of trouble imo, if Simbin would improve some of the bugs in GTL then they would get my respect (however, don't forget that Slightly Mad Studio (former Blimey!) did most of the production of GTL...)

ehr.. hope they fix it, might just be that GTL loses it's spunk and disco's.... who'd want to race something none-buggy?!   everybody would stay away!

The server is still running probably, they only lost the domain name I guess. So the only additional costs are those for colocation (in case they own the server) or rental of a dedicated server to keep the lobby running. I guess they could have a server running for both gtr2 and gtl lobby's in fact.

They mention GTL on their website as their game, even while they 'out sourced' most of the work to the studio in London (current Slightly Mad Studio), so it's nothing more than normal that they keep the online part of the game up and running imo. It's more their duty, certainly not something extraordinary they're doing imo. I would be very thankful if they would fix some of the GTL bugs, but I'm quite sure they won't.

Well, after owning and wanting to play loads of games in the past that have lost the support for online, i at least from personal pov can appreciate a game being supported. :)
