I just mentioned in my post the other day -re FF wheels- that I dug this game out and are looking to getting into it. Well I finally fired it up yesterday morning only to be prompted with the standard -"put the disk in the drive"- message. When I opened my GTL jewel case there, to my horror, was my F1 2002 disk. I went through my offsite storage locker yesterday afternoon, but no go - my GTL CD-ROM is no where to be found. I do have the GTL manual on hand.

I'm wondering if there's anything I can do about this; i.e. does Simbin or Simjunkies have a policy for lost CD-ROM replacement? Or am I SOL on this?

NP...I think having misplaced my disk is only the beginning of my problems. When I originally purchased the game the manual didn't have the online play code/ID printed on it. I emailed Simbin or Viva Media support -can't remember which one- and they sent me a code. Unfortunately that was 3 years ago and I no longer appear to have the email - DOH! Oh well, looks like I'm not going to get to enjoy this game after all.

I'd like to try one of the other Simbin games that's still available for purchase, but I'm nervous I'll got through what I have for this game. Can anyone recommend another Simbin game that's as good as this, but with a few less hoops to jump through?

If you still have the book, it has a code on it that you can send to viva media. They should be willing to re-send the online code to ya. Might be worth a shot. Amazon canada still has new gt legends it looks like. Otherwise GTR2 is another popular simbin title that has many free add-ons such as power and glory(kinda like gt legends for GTR2) if you like the old iron.
Then there are the steam releases like Race, Race07, GTR Evolution. Do a little research on above titles, pick your poison, and dive in.  

Unfortunately, my copy had no code in the book or on the jewel case, whichwas the original problem I had. At the time I found a FAQ or forum post about that problem, which is when I contacted support. I received an online code, but IIRC it didn't work which is when I decided to shelve the game for a while - didn't think at the time the shelving would last 3 years. I checked Amazon.ca, but the cheapest price is $50 which is a bit steep considering I originally only payed $30.

I do prefer retro racers and I actually still play the long-in-the-tooth Rally Trophy because of it.
I'm concidering GTR Evolution or Race07, but I'm a bit hesitant since my gaming rig doesn't meet all of the recommended requirements. Honestly at this point the very-long-in-the-tooth GPL is looking good. LOL.

$19.99 for GTR2 and GTL together.  Not sure where in Canada you're located, but here in Winnipeg all 4 Future Shop locations have stock.  According to the website most (if not all) of the locations in the GTA also have stock, so Den, you definitely did not get the last copy in the city.

As minorshunt mentioned already, the Power and Glory mod for GTR2 is excellent but you'll need the GTL disc to install it, so that's another reason why the GTR2 game of the year edition is a good buy.

That's awesome about the GTR2 GOTY including GTL. I'm in the greater Vancouver area and futureshop.ca lists 3 stores in my area as having it. The strange this is that I was in 1 of those stores last week and browsed the PC games section, but there wasn't any Simbin games. Anyhow...nice to know it's still available.
