Can i get a replay kimmo?
Quote
Had some laps yesterday and managed a 2:07:177 with some 3 tenths room to improve, according to split times.

I just did some laps 10? and so far only managed a 2'09.5 and i have no idea where to find another 2+ seconds!!??!!
Feels like a good lap too :(

2 views of the replay and 45 minutes later... 2'07.3xxx

This car is just so much harder to extract potential out of.. Very difficult to drive at the limit and its taking all of my concentration to make it possible to run such a time. Good news is now i can see those 2'06's but boy do you really really have to drive it hard and on the limit to make it.

Tough race...

BTW i was loosing all my time in mid corner speed i think, as well as not trail braking enough. Its just the 911 is so easy to spin.. its very risky to push so hard...

Thanks heaps for the replay and setup Kimmo!! main points i got from your replay was a bit better gear selection in 1st corner and the chicane before the back straight. But i guess the biggest thing i wanted to check was if i had everything right haha, at the end of the day i severely underestimated the limit of the 911 and just didnt drive it hard enough..

Normally we just let the game itself decide on cutting, but after viewing Kimmo's replay I'm going to impose the following rule at least for this race:

'Keep at least 2 wheels on the track. The track boundry is the white line, except when there is a curb. In the latter case the boundy is the outside of the curb'

Of course I'm not going to exclude somebody when this happens once during the race, but repeat offenders will get a penalty  :knockout:

Does that red strip on the outside deemed "curb" or part of the track?

How does this lap stack up Kristof?

I actually lost half a tenth on the last of the fast left handers (before the big downhill) as i apexed the turn too early which caused me to go a bit wide.. Possibly (according to my splits anyway) some time left in the last sector but its impossible to drive a perfect lap so that will always be the case..

Found an old Setup or Riks and slapped Kimmo's gears on it and i really like the way the car feels now.

Anyway here is the replay. With some more practise.. maybe a 2'06.5 is about my limit..

2'06.693

EDIT...
Updated replay a few posts below

I don't seem to have adjustable gears on this car. Or at least finals..

Thats correct, but each individual gears can be changed. So its far better setup than only have 3 different final configurations

Thanks Dion. I wasn't sure. I do find the setup above is pretty nice.

Ok this is about it i think...

2'06.467

The biggest difference i think... braking for the last sector.. in the above laps i was braking too early and sticking to the inside of the turn, seems better to go in fast and trail brake right through, seems like im loosing time by not apexing the turn, but i actually gain a few tenths for braking 10m later. Also i nailed the 1st sector far better. Only i messed up the chicane before back straight a little (tenth or so), not grabbing enough kerb on the left hand side (like i said, never can run a perfect lap).

Anyway again i stuck by the rule that i consider the red bits track (just like green bits in F1) however tried not to use them unless i got a bit wide.

It's really going to be a tough race! Once your rears are worn out it's so easy to spin the car: once you lose the rear it's nearly impossible ro recover... Maybe I should just play it safe and stay on the 3rd gear the whole race like Steiny suggested :D

Had a practice run with Dion and finally got under 2:07, 2:06:9 to be exact.  :excited:
Not a perfect lap though, lost a lot of time in the last sector.
Anyways, Dion was going under 2:06 at one point, so maybe I should just give up with hopes of victory...
(he was up .4 1st sector but he couldn't get the rest of the lap together)

Did I say white line or red strip  :) And no, the red strip is no curb!

That last turn cannot be taken like I saw in Kimmo's or even Dion's last replay, just take a look at a replay from F. Alonso in a Renault F1:

F1 2008 Onboard - Fernando Alonso (Istanbul)

Btw Dion, in your last replay you went too wide at the exit of T8 (the multi apex corner) and like already mentioned above in T14.

2 wheels on track, always works for me.
Good rule about the curb too imo.

Alas I can't download stuff from here anymore so I can't watch it myself, sorry.
