Forum Banner
« on: July 05, 2006, 07:39:02 am »
You might have noticed the new, and rather dull banner atop the forum.

I tried for about two hours to come up with something flashy.  But with my limited paint shop skills I was bound.  In trying to keep it un 500x90 pixels I felt very limited in my options.

I was curious if any of you might be willing to have a stab at it?  Now if it seems like a waste of time then don't bother.  But hell if you're bored, I'd like to see what you can come up with.  If we get more than one we could have a vote for the winner.  If you decide to do it, don't feel like you need to mimic my attempt in any way... well it would be good if you kept with the GTL colors.  Other than that I'm open to anything.  If you come up with something great, save the larger copy too.  Maybe I will use it on the site homepage when I get to work on that once more.

Yours looks nice and friendly...  sort of reminds me of a tropical beach.  Nice!   :)

As for your orange problem...

I usually do a grab of a page, or save a pic containing the colour scheme I'm using, then paste it or open it up in Photoshop so I can use the colour picker tool to get the right shades.

Dunno if that helps.

Honestly great work all of you!  Way to make my work look like garbage.    :-\  I like all of them... now we just have the trouble of picking one.  8)  (By the way my Wife loved the monkey too!)

PSDM, I like how you dressed up the SJ icons.  It was wise to move the letters down.  I didn't realize they were too high until I put the button curve on them.  By that time it was very late, and I had to get to bed.  But now we just need the "on2.gif" it's the one that lets you see there's a new message in a child board.  ;)

As for the other buttons what do you rest of you think?  Do we keep my multicolor hard to read ones or switch over to PSDM's lighter on the eyes?  (My feelings wont be hurt).

About getting the right color.  That orange color is available when you are using millions of colors.  When working out of the box in gif format you aren't able to select it.  So you have to raise the colors to put that orange on the file.  (Did that make sense?)

Thanks Guys, and nice work!  I feel so unimaginative about mine.  :P

I wonder if Per can modify it so it'll fit into a smaller space? (500 x 90 or so).  If so we'll have to have a vote on them all.  Any other contributors?

I just realized that there is a problem with doing the menu buttons in alternating colors.  Depending on how you are logged in you could end up with two buttons of the same color right in a row... Hmmmm... Any thoughts?

I like PDSM's SJ icons as they are a bit easier to read and as for the banners they are all very good. Right now I guess PDSM 2nd entry with the flames would get my vote but maybe we can find a place to use different banners.

Great work guys. Certainly a creative bunch of rascals ;D 8) 8)

I was thinking about moving them all to a light blue like some of his use.  What do you think?

well i could make another propo for them that would be a bit easier to read but has
similarity in them..

its pretty damn hard to move that text manually on that on2.gif so i came up with this idea:  ???

The new on2 gif is great!  You know back in school I really had an eye for graphic design... it appears the years of manual labor, and now truck driving have killed my imagination.  So I am happy to have help.

I'm looking forward to seeing your new proposals for the menu buttons.

I miss the days where I had a computer in front of me at work.  But alas I drive a truck.  So I wont be able to visit the forum until after work tonight.   But I am looking forward to seeing what you come up with.  :D (No pressure though if you get bored with it.)

what do you rest of you think?

Personally .. i think i just stumbled onto one of your first grammar errors   ;)

but on the issue at hand.. i like the gritty look and the monkey  (and yes.. "even a monkey could do it".. but that's not the kindsa ppl you'd want racing with ya now would it.. however... that will probbly be the secret password some day.. theyll never think of that one :o)

i was expecting some smilies with eyes popping outtof their socket on the " i "   specially the "junkie"-  " i"   ;D
