May give it a whirl. Brand new to Simracing, done half a dozen or so in GTR Evo league (pretty hopeless....but fun). But on break now whilst next season.

May try to install track and have a practice run or 2.

Got it, scanned it, unpacked it, put it in the bin

theres a SHIT load of files. I will do some reading before i attempt doing this

ted its just 1 copy n paste manoeuvre.
install game
patch to 1.1
copy n paste no-CD files
done!

So, i just unpack the patch to (in my case) the desk top then copy and paste all the files into the game folder ?

PS: Just to check i have the right patch, the one i have is nearly 44mg, does that sound right Lee

I did a post with the exact steps I took last year, but I'm buggered if I can find it.
As I remember I backed up my complete install, then ran the starfarce removal tool (I think it came with the 'patch'), rebooted and overwrote my installation with the files in the patch. There was also a sound archive (on no grip I think) which I installed to stop the looping of the sounds.

the one on gamecopyworld is different pete. i just overwrote everything and she worked. was a fresh install on win 7 though.
then i just copied all my tracks and user data stuff from the old install.

Is this the same that requires new sound files?

I remember I tried that one, but for me after a few laps it crashed to desktop. now I just use GTL-GTR2 instead,

Thanks DrokK had o do a clean install, but then seemed to work. problem is ive got music, but got no car sounds

any advice.

make sure you resetup all your audio settings in game, even if you imported a saved profile.

All audio seem OK.

If worst comes to worst, I'll just have to keep using disk. not the end of the world.

Yes, several times. Run as administrator as well. The audio files are there, I can play them on media player. Just not within the game.

In fact blow by blow.

Fresh install GTL, reboot so starforce fails due to vista, patch to 1.1, starforce removal tool, reboot, install nodisk, run bat file. GTL loads with music in menus etc. no track sounds
