Here's something to check out.
Alan told me that his game (GTL) kept crashing to desktop when loading a track (most of them). I went round to try and sort it out and discovered a couple of interesting things.
It transpires that the problem lies with (as far as I can tell) the shared files folder that is needed to make the GTR2 converted tracks work properly.
Now, I substituted my locations folder for Alans and the tracks loaded fine. I noticed however, that I did not have some of the GTR2 converted tracks in my version. I noticed that my "shared" folder was 53.5mb and Alan's was the 68.5mb version as in the downloads section of our site.
I downloaded and installed the Osterschleben GTR2 track for GTL on Alan's machine and all tracks worked
apart from that one. I then installed the newer "Shared" folder (68mb) and Osterchleben worked fine but at the expense of
all other tracks crashing to desktop at the loading screen. I then substituted my "Shared" folder (53.5mb) and the reverse was true - everything worked except Osterschleben.
Just to make sure it wasn't something corrupted in Alan's game I tried the same thing on my machine
with the same results.I have not tried all the other tracks converted from GTR2 to GTL but I would suspect that the above would apply in all cases, i.e. as it stands, you can have GTR2 converted tracks or all the other non GTR2 converted tracks but you can't have both.
The culprit looks like the "Shared" folder that is needed to make the GTR2 tracks work.
Just thought I'd mention it in case anyone else is experiencing this issue. Might be worth someone else checking it out too
