gt legends stuttering

hello, a friend has just got gt legends (mine arrives tomorrow) and he say's he is gettting alot of stuttering mainly into and around corners.
he's got vista, dual core pentium 1.6, nvidia 8600gt 256   and 2 gb of onboard.
tried turning it down to dx8  but still juder's (not as much) and changed all grx options in game but not in plr.file.
surely that system should run a year old game with nice eyecandy and not judder or jerk even.hope it's not like this on my pc.
is it a starfox thing ?

Think it might be Vista.

By the sounds of the specs that system should have no problems at all running gtl.  I'm curious what the frame rate is when it's stuttering.  If you press ctrl-f while in game the frame rate will display in the top right corner.

Does the stuttering happen on all tracks?

Make sure vertical sync is turned off (it's in the same place where you turned it down to dx8), and also make sure full screen anti aliasing is off.  Both of those things have a huge impact on frame rate.

Ehr......I have Vsync on and AA at x2 and get 45fps av.

And I'm not on anything that special :dunno:

cheers people i'll tell him to do that,i was abit worried about getting the game so downloaded the demo and ran fine high settings got 45/55 fps and med settings 50/70fps.no vsinc or aa on either.
im running xp,so vista is something that should be put on hold till the customers finish the product testing? :biggrin:

Vista is something that doesn't even warrent a glance for another 18+ months.

Does anyone remember when XP came out? Everyone happy with '98 (Some still are :dunno:) and no one getting ME (Windows OS, not yuppie flu).

I haven't booted into XP for many moons now, so I don't think it's a Vista issue... I know 256M should be pleant, but I'd still suggest knocking off the hi-rez textures.

my machine is a dinosaur compared to that, but i run gtl with no problems...

stuttering is in corners you say? what controller is he using? has he get latest drivers?

Ok.. here goes.. no solution.. just pinpointing the problem.


Just let yer bud stand still on a straight or in the pits, hit Ctrl-F for framerates, now start turning the wheel to either end and see if he is losing frames per second.


I've had that with the G25 for ages now, tried to find out what it was, updated nearly everything, but i still encounter it.. sometimes worst then other times.... not many ppl with this problem either but lately i haven't really bothered to look for the solution either.

It might have to do with the USB ports, mine says it's got 2.0, but with the saitek r440 with 1.0 i had no problems at all... it's weirdness and dear Shawn ([SJ]Instig8r) has spent hours with me trying to sort the problem.. not really found a solution except setting up the graphics card correctly for different games (making profiles)... i dont notice it alot now.. (updated to a 3.0ghz (single core double threads) but it's still there, just not that overwhelming.
