I was thinking this this morning as I made a "non-SJ" install of GTL and discussing getting binder organizers with MiLady...so...

You know you've possibly become addicted to Simracing/SimJunkies when:

-You know as soon as you see "Gamedata" on a mod folder what to do with it.

-You dream of your favourite games and wake up at 3am, start the PC and try your latest idea.

-You've modded a game before ever starting it up!

-You have no hesitation to take apart pedals, wheels, PCs, etc on a whim.

-You decide you've got it "just right" and you're not going to touch ANYTHING and 5 minutes later think "I have an idea" and tear into it again.

-You have started keeping notes, notebooks, lists of mods, and possibly a binder with dividers (I'm about to enter this stage) to keep track of your games/installs/mods.

-You burn your zip files to disk and can re-install the entire game without hardly thinking about it anymore.

-Your GTL folder is over 6gb........and climbing. (or any folder you are the most addicted to.)

-You now know more people on the other side of the ocean than you do on your own.

-Your wife schedules Friday dinner around the "Alfatina".

-You have multiple installs of your games according to how/where you use them

-You spend more time on SJ (or sim forums) than any other forum.

-You've stopped dreaming of driving real cars a lot of the time and dream of sim cars!

-You sit in the pits just blipping the throttle to hear it.

-You use up your download limit on NoGrip daily.....

-You just KNOW you're edging into overdose when you discover Bierbuden.

and I'm sure many many many more! thumbs up  rofl rofl

you go to bed doing laps in your head of the current car/track combination analysing and figuring out the best lines and braking points

you take racing lines in the shopping trolley at the supermarket, with perfectly executed hairpin flicks as you change from isle to isle.

you drive racing lines in your car to work

you walk racing lines

you turn down party invites to stay at home playing

your annoyed when your best mate msgs you while your racing!

you have a cockpit..

you have teamspeak + ventrillo and you know exactly how to setup both and can switch between with no hassle

you are decent in at least 3 different games

you start to post top 5 times on GTL/GTR2/(enter game here) rank

enjoy watching your friends struggle to make 3 corners then get on and show them 1 handed drifts around the track.

your quick to bash any driver who claims they are good at "driving" when they play NFS / Toca / Test drive / Colin Mcrae / Grid

hehe, im guilty of just about all of these....

-You have multiple installs of GTL and none of them are on the menu as "GTL".....

-Started SERIOUSLY looking at multiple terrabyte hard drives.

-my children speak of members of SJ in familiar terms.

When you have an upcoming race, print off the track and stick it on your wall.
Your car seat in your rig has actually done more miles since you pulled it out of the scrap yard
You are constantly threatened with divorce :)
After watching the F1, you download the track and try and beat the fastest laptime in a bmw m3 gtr
You only drive the sim car with paddles or shifter if thats what it has in real life
You have piles

Disclaimer: i dont have piles

You wonder what faces will show up at the next meeting!

@Steve:  why download it AFTER the race is done?
@ Dent:  if you'd have money... you probably wouldn't.. as you'd invest it in building something!

all very valid points gentlemen.. i was hoping the internet homepage wasn't taken.. but drokky beat me to it
ah well.. here's a variation to it:

First thing you do when you get online is check SJ... last thing (if ya ever turn it off) you do is check SJ.

Phoning your RL relatives and bragin' when you have a good finish (when they don't have a clue as to what you're talkin' about)

Ridin' on the bus, running the coming race in your head. (when you "come to" the woman whom you have inadvertly been starring at is glaring at you)

Trying to tell your niece (7yrs) how great your last on-track manouver was. (she is there cause she wants to go to Barbie.ca)

Being wasted @8:30pm friday cause you were racing AlfaTina. (goin' to bed cause you're pissed and waking up @ 1:00am with a pounder)

There's more ... but I feel like turning a few laps  lol

- you heal/toe and blip the throttle on downshifts, in your lorry...

- your wife could recognise the back of your head out of 10,000 at 100 metres

Hehe...  I like this thread!

I just counted the bookmarks on my FF toolbar...  There are seventeen of them, and eight of those are directly SJ related!

-your 8 year old daughter does her school assignment with the assistance of an SJ member! (Thanks Tysie!!!)

-That same 8 year old wants to move to England to so SHE can go to Goodwood.

-you look at houses on real estate sites (even overseas) and the main criteria is where you're going to build your cockpit.

-your WIFE does the same including when she looks at house plans. (which she likes to do.) "Now where would Den put his simulator?"

-You've got a reminder of an upcoming race all over your cell-phone wallpaper
-You've also got it as an upcoming task on your cell-phone calendar
-Then, you also write it down and hang it on your desk-lamp
-The dust on your wheel isn't really dust but actually particles of grinded plastic
-When your monitor, speakers, wheel etc etc on the desk are placed in a way which others find inconceivable to use as a place to actually use the keyboard and type anything.
-When cables behind and around your desk are strapped and arranged in a tactful and orderly manner as to specifically accommodate your pedals and ONLY your pedals with the sole purpose being that you don't lose any brake pressure and/or throttle movement.
-Anyone knocking on your door will probably receive an answer resembling a rather primitive form of our species "GRAAAAAAAAAAAAAWR"
-When your shirt feels like it's been dumped in a bucket of water even though you haven't really moved away from your chair for most of the day
-There's a Heinz ketchup bottle in your room from a sandwich you had just before a race 2 weeks ago

Guilty on all counts rofl
and more i cannot possibly think of at the moment :)

You compare real life turns while racing to ones from racing in a sim-not the other way around.

Spending $300 on the puter to make it faster seems perfectly sensible as spending $300 on the race car.

You hear the songs you have in your playlist in your head while racing.

You look into putting a faster steering rack in the car 'cause you set up your game that way.

You've tried playing in your racing shoes.

You go out + buy a gear shift indicator for $159 for the car cause your so use to seeing one.

The Worse-- you've left the line in 2nd*

 * my car is powered by a suzuki 1000 motor-and uses the stock transmission. The shift patten with my shifter is 1-Neutral- 2-3-4-5-6. So as you sit in neutral, you pull back into 1st-then push straight forward for 2nd thru 6th.
With my G25 I use sequential shifter-from neutral you push FORWARD for 1st. Yes--i did once take off in 2nd.....

-You compare the real thing to what you race and find that some bumps need to be mapped for GTL as theyre exciting (as found at goodwood this year, whilst 3 experts on that track where thinking together..)

You cancel a job survey tommorrow night cos you wanna do the endurance race..

You keep a close eye on the beer stock thursday night as you won't want to leave the house for any on friday.. (let's do Monza paraletica!!)

You check ebay for subaru sti seats to mod into sim chair... (got to have co pilot just incase no straights for beer drinking..)

You unplug the phone and remove the batteries from the door bell..
